A Hands on Adventure
The projects included in this Hands On Adventure are community-led and focus on sustainable and relevant community development and environmental conservation. Ensuring that the projects you get involved with serve a real need in the community is vital, so activities vary. Some of the many exciting opportunities include mangrove restoration, teaching English to children, adults, guides, host families and handicraft cooperatives, beach clearance and waste management. You may also be involved in creative workshops with local children and working on school or community gardens, sharing your skills or hobby with villagers and wildlife and environmental conservation projects.
Khao Sok Rainforest
After a day exploring Bangkok you board the overnight train south to Khao Sok. Here you can discover some of the best remaining rainforest in Thailand - with superb trails, rivers and cliffs. From your base you’ll walk to nearby waterfalls and learn about the flora and fauna. There’s also the chance to go ‘inner-tubing’ down rivers and to ride elephants.
Escape to the islands
Koh Lanta is considered one of Thailand’s most eco-friendly resorts. From your small beach villa you’ll explore the deserted coastline spotting hornbill, sea eagle, heron and maybe giant sea turtle (Jan to May). You’ll also have plenty of opportunity to enjoy snorkelling before heading to Ao Nang to SCUBA dive, sea kayak and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
East Coast itinerary May to October ref. TIe
For the best possible weather, during the summer you head to the east coast and travel by bus and ferry to Koh Phangnan. Here you’ll relax on beautiful beaches or explore the island’s interior. Crossing to Koh Samui, you can SCUBA dive and sea kayak – a fantastic combination of adventure and relaxation.
