Arrive in Oulanka

Fly to Kuusamo, where you transfer to your accommodation in Oulanka National Park. As you are inside the Arctic Circle, the weather here can reach as low as -30 degrees, although you will be provided with full winter clothing to keep you warm! Your accommodation at Oulanka is a superb base in a wilderness location, with excellent facilities. Alongside the spacious rooms there is a cosy restaurant and bar, which includes a log fire, sauna and outdoor hot tub, an ideal place to base yourself for your week in Finland.

Basecamp Oulanka - Wilderness Camp (AA) - 7 nights (D)

Our 'wilderness camp' is a lovely complex of wooden buildings providing comfortable and cosy accommodation in a stunning location overlooking a lake and backing on to the Oulanka National Park. All rooms are moderately-sized family rooms comprising a bathroom, twin beds for the adults and a mezzanine floor for up to two children.

Cross Country Skiing

This morning you will take a cross country skiing lesson. Free use of skis after the lesson. Heading down to the nearby Juuma lake, our instructor will literally walk us through the basics of how to cross-country ski. There may be a few tumbles to start with, but in the soft snow this is half the fun. After becoming more confident on the skis we then head out onto the lake, gliding through the virgin powder.
