Teeming with wild, glacial beauty and possessing a quirky culture full of myth and legend, there's much more to Iceland than vikings and volcanoes. Experience the eclectic arts and music scene of Reykjavik, marvel at geothermal geysers and spectacular waterfalls, visit isolated, coastal villages and see the surreal Northern Lights - Iceland is full of the unexpected.

Arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Pick up and transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik, which is well located within the city.

Hvolsvollur

Hvolsvollur

Today the tour starts with a short (1 &1/2 hr) city tour around Reykjavik. Among places we will see are the old harbour, the city center, Hallgrimskirkja church and the Pearl. Then we continue to Þingvellir (Parliament Plaines), the location of the old parliament and a geological phenomenon. From there we drive to the Geyser geothermal area for a spouting hot spring and to Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall, where on a sunny day you can see a rainbow in the spray above the waterfall. From there we proceed to our overnight stay.

Glacier Lagoon

Glacier Lagoon

Today we stop to visit the waterfall Skogafoss and Solheimajokull glacier where we will walk up to the glacier tounge to view the incredible colours and close enough to touch From there we drive to the village of Vik and then through the lava of the Laki eruption in 1782-1783 to the Glacier Lagoon before coming to our overnight stay.

Hvolsvollur

Our trip continues towards the oasis at Skaftafell national park close to Vatnajokull, Europe's biggest glacier. Few other places in the world exhibit the effects of such a wide range of natural phenomena as Vatnajökull, where the battle between ice and fire still rages, created by the combined forces of rivers, glacial ice, and volcanic and geothermal activity. At Skaftafell we will take a 2 hour glacial walk tour around this incredible national park. We then continue over black sands to the rocks of Reynisfjara and Dyrholaey before returning to Reykjavik for our overnight stay .

This morning is free to relax and unwind or if you are feeling like more activity you can book onto an optional Superjeep tour. In the afternoon we drive to Seljarlandfoss waterfall which has a drop of 60 metres and it is possible to walk behind the falls to gain a distinctly different perspective.

Reykjavik has a great feel to the city, with many art museums, quirky cafes and sculptures to see. Today is a free day to explore this city. Looking for something to do? Take a ride on an Icelandic Horse, view Killer Whales just off the shore on an whale watching trip or explore one of many art galleries. Or visit the famous Blue Lagoon. Take a dip in the warm geothermal seawater and soak up the scenery in the all natural bathing lagoon.

Reykjavik

Reykjavik

We drive to the Reykjanes peninsula where the mid Atlantic ridge rises from the ocean. More than half of the peninsula is covered with lava flows, some of which are only a few hundred years old. We will visit boiling mud pool´s and hot springs before driving to the Blue Lagoon for a relaxing bath before driving to Keflavik airport for your departure flight.

Glaciers and Geysers

A trip to Iceland wouldn't be complete without visiting the famous geyser region and the impressive glaciers that cover the island. These huge masses of ice move over land and have formed over many years, slowly carving a path through the lanscape. You'll visit the Gulfoss 'Golden Waterfall amd take a glacier trip, this time exploring first by jeep, then in a larger truck which will take you deeper into this mass of ice!

Reykjavik & Blue Lagoon

You arrive into Iceland's capital Reykjavik, where you will admire its rugged surroudings. Then visit the moon-like surroundings of Lake Kleifarvatn and the hot springs and thermal pools. Then on to the Blue Lagoon, where you can swim in the blue waters.
