Extend your adventure
The thunderous falls of Iguacu are rightly renowned as among the most impressive on earth. You will be able to see at close quarters the mighty torrents as they tumble downwards. This incredible sight is the perfect way to end your trip to Peru.

Flight to Foz do Iguacu
Depending on the flight time you will have more time in Cusco before your flight to Foz do Iguacu. The flight is via Lima so there may also be some time in transit. When you get there you'll be met by the local leader and taken to your hotel. Hotel - 3 nights (B)

Iguaçu Falls; Brazilian side
At Iguaçu Falls, the Rio Iguaçu widens and sweeps majestically round a three kilometre bend before plunging 80 metres over a natural fault. Two hundred and seventy five separate cascades present an awesome spectacle of thundering water and flying spray. Higher than Victoria Falls, wider than Niagara Falls - and arguably more beautiful than either - the falls are shared between Brazil and Argentina. Although Argentina has the lion’s share of this UNESCO World Heritage site, Brazil possesses the ‘grand view’, of churning river below the falls – this arrangement led to the local saying that Argentina puts on the show and Brazil charges for the tickets. This morning you‘ll visit the viewpoints on the Brazilian side. There’s also an exciting helicopter ride over the waterfalls (optional) for wonderful aerial views, a bird park and the chance to explore the jungle. (B)

Iguaçu Falls; Argentinian side
Today you'll transfer to the majestic Iguacu Falls where you will visit the Argentine side of the falls, which is noted for its close-up views of the water. Whereas in Brazil you are looking at the falls, in Argentina you are in amongst them as walkways take you right over the tops of many of the individual cascades - you’re almost bound to get wet as the trails here lead right into the spray of the crashing waters. The various sections of the falls are now connected by a narrow gauge railway which pulls you through the forest. Perhaps the most spectacular point is the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) with its awe-inspiring view of roaring falls, rainbow arcs and parrots and hawks swooping against a backdrop of verdant rainforest. An exciting boat trip (optional) takes you right up to the torrent so you can see the water tumbling from high above and feel the spray lashing into your face; not only is this an adrenalin-filled activity, it also provides a completely different perspective of the falls, allowing you to fully appreciate their size. For something more sedate you can take the small boat across to the Isla San Martin where a number of scenes from the film The Mission were filmed. Later in the day you return to your hotel in Brazil. (B)
Trip home
Today you transfer to the airport for your flight home. Flight details vary, please enquire for details. (B)
The Amazon Basin covers two-fifths of South America, meaning that no visit to this amazing continent is complete without exploring the most bio-diverse environment in the world. Flying from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado you'll then head by motorised canoe into the heat of the jungle to your lodge. A stay in the Amazon is like being enclosed in another world; for many people the most vivid memories are falling asleep to sounds of the jungle. By day you'll hopefully see turtles, monkeys and macaws as well as stunning flora.

Flight to Puerto Maldonado
A short flight brings you to Puerto Maldonado, in the jungle on a tributary of the Amazon. You transfer to motorised launch for the hour long trip up the Tambopata River to your lodge. There is a short introductory jungle walk of about 50 minutes to reach an ox-bow lake before crossing it to arrive at the lodge. In the evening you will be shown a slideshow presentation. Lodge - 3 nights (BLD)
Please note: Due to availability we may use alternative Amazon lodges, whilst the nature of activities will be roughly the same the journey times may vary.

Explore the Amazon
Over the next two days you are accompanied by resident naturalist guides on a number of fascinating excursions. Exploring by foot and in canoes you quickly become aware of how extraordinarily diverse the rainforest ecosystem is - well over 500 birds and 1000 butterflies have been recorded, in addition to the rich plant and mammalian life. A network of well-marked trails extend from the lodge and the oxbow lake itself, home to giant otters, gives the opportunity to paddle its tranquil waters by canoe in order to quietly observe wildlife on the shore. In the evening of day 10 you will board your canoe after sunset for a short night ride to spot cayman by torchlight. The lodge itself comprises several thatched roof bungalows around a central dining area and is co-owned by the local community and a conservation organisation. Each room has en suite facilities and electricity. (Bx2, Lx2, Dx2)

Farewell to the Jungle
Bidding farewell to the jungle, you return to Puerto Maldonado by riverboat to catch a flight back to Lima, before catching your overnight flight back home. (B)
