The trekking in the Knuckles Mountains was fantastic.

There were quite a few things we really loved. The trekking in the Knuckles Mountains was fantastic.  The elephant gathering was great too. Sigiriya Rock.

The worst point was a hotel we were put in called the Wala Safari Hotel just outside Tissa. Please below for an expansion on this The Hill Club was awful! A wasted night. Kids hated it as did we.

The accommodation was of a high standard generally although we had big problems with one hotel who assaulted our local guide when he took us to a nearby restaurant rather than us eating at the hotel. It was generally dirty and we were given two single beds pushed together as a triple room. This wasn't really acceptable for a 14 year old girl and her parents. (The Wela Safari Hotel) The accommodation in Knuckles was outstanding. best food in Sri Lanka! Coastal hotel was of a very high spec and very lovely. Generally the hotels were miles away from anywhere which meant were were sort of trapped there. I had hoped we would be able to get out and explore a bit more on foot

[Comments on itinerary] If I am honest we felt a bit stifled. We had anticipated rather more adventure and less being herded around from place to place and watched at every step. The hotels were all miles out of town or villages so we felt that we had almost no opportunty to explore anywhere. A whole day in Galle would have been good. Also why on earth do you put people in Bandarawela which is grim when Ella which is beautiful is down the road.

Nuwan was delightful but it would have been nice if sometimes he had dropped us off and left us too it a little. He came everywhere with us. he seemed to feel he had to over fill our time. however he also came up with a couple of extra suggestions which were fantastic. the rain ride in the mountains and the Pelawera were fantastic. Little bit too much going to sari shops and wood carvers early on but after we discussed this it stopped.
