Hands On Adventure

Hands On Adventures combine our special blend of adventure and discovery with an opportunity to ‘lend a hand’ to a local project for an enriching experience. These adventures allow you to contribute to conservation of the natural environment and/or cultural heritage by getting a behind the scenes look at one of our carefully selected local projects.

Impact of Colonialism

Sri Lanka has a history of colonialism, formerly known as Ceylon under British rule from 1815 to 1948. This gave rise particularly to a plantation based economy with principle exports of rubber and tea and cinnamon. Providing an opportunity to study how this has evolved in the post colonial era in terms of human and economic development.

Environment and natural hazards

Parts of Sri Lanka, particularly the south and east coast were devastated by the Asian Tsunami in 2004. An opportunity to study the impact and aftermath of this hazard and sustainable development strategies implemented. Look at the part played by tourism in supporting economic re-development.
