elephants, giraffes and zebras

The different safaris - seeing lots of elephants, giraffes and zebras and the fantastic view from our lodge.

[Least enjoyed] Long wait at Nairobi waiting for our onward flight on the way home.

Quiet and small hotels were good. Sable mountain lodge absolutely outstanding in every way - location and view, food, guides and staff in general.

Although Rama was quiet he was efficient and sorted out any problems we had.

Staying in Selous

Train ride. Safari. Staying in Selous - food and staff were superb. Bagamoyo, walking round the town ourselves and beautiful beach. Excellent service at Flame Tree Cottages. Spice Tour

[Least enjoyed] Dhow Palace Hotel. Dhow Palace was disappointing in comparison to level of other places.  Flame Tree Cottages was excellent and we were glad not to be staying in the accomodation the rest of our group were allocated, the position was much better and the accomodation far more luxurious

Haasan was exemplary in all respects, friendly, an excellent and knowledgeable teacher and really looked after us with great attention to detail. Including providing stones to wedge the windows open on the train trip!

Sable mountain lodge was fantastic

Sable mountain lodge

[Least enjoyed] Mnarani beach resort. Mnarani resort was not at the same standard as the other Accommodation. The food was poor and several of the group were ill. The tour stayed at four locations, sable mountain lodge was fantastic, mnarani spoilt the overall experience.

Hussein in Tanzania was a brilliant tour leader. The organization in zanizbar was not as good, ibrahim was more interested in selling tours to us, this part of the tour was unaccompanied, on departure day he did not let us know that he had changed the collection time to an hour later, which meant we were just waiting in the reception.
