Trip Photos:

Orang-utans turtles, & Kota Kinabalu

After snorkelling close to the turtles and hopefully witness the hatching phenomenon, you travel to Sepilok, home of the important orang-utan rehabilitation project in Borneo. Here you’ll learn about this wonderful yet endangered animal – a highlight of the trip. Your final days will be spent on the coast at Kota Kinabalu where you can relax and reflect on your adventure through Borneo.

Mt Kinabalu Trek

You will visit the largest and well-known Borneo's first UNESCO Wold Heritage Site - Kinabalu National Park, chosen for its'outstanding universal values' and challenge yourself to reach the summit with an overwelming achievement feeling before to soak in the hotspringd for a well deserved rest.

Sandakan

Sandakan was once the capital of British North Borneo and traditionally has strong trading ties with Hong Kong. The Cantonese influence is obvious in the lively harbourside market, Chinese temples and the local cuisine. If you want to get an insight into the city's past, then you can visit the emotive War Memorial, which was built on the site of a Japanese POW camp. This site also marks the starting point of the tragic Sandakan Death Marches. 2,400 POW's were forced to walk through the jungles of Borneo. By the end of the march, only six Australian escapees survived.
