Trip Overview:

Visit the Ecuadorian Rainforest, connect with the local community at a sustainable and responsable project. Head out to the Galapagos for exploration of the islands on foot, by bicycle and by boat.

On this unique trip you won't be staying at a jungle lodge, or cruising the Galapagos on a motor yacht. Here you'll camp on platforms as the sounds of the forest come alive around you. You'll explore the islands in more unusual and exciting way as you hop from island to island.

Your guide in the rainforest is expert in the surroundings, he's lived there his whole life! Your Huaorani guide will show you the secrets of the jungle, the medicinal plants, the countless animal species, how they live and the stories and culture of the people who live here.

Hands On with the Huaorani

The jungle camp is part of an eco-tourism project run by and for the Huaorani community. All the profits go to the community.

The region has been blighted in its recent history by oil exploration and the damage on the environment is evident (you'll visit on a short 'toxic tour') but it has also caused damage to the local communities whose young adults have been lured away from the villages to work for low wages for the oil companies. The project provide a superior income and keeps the community together as well as being a preferable environmental alternative to drilling for oil.

By visiting this part of the Amazon you will learn how the people here live, their stories and problems. You won't watch a rain-dance or a theatrical display but you will meet and interact with the Huaorani and hopefully leave with a new outlook on life.

Nenkepare Jungle Camp

What an exciting way to visit the Amazon rainforest - camping! On the banks of the Shiripuno river, a series of covered platforms have been erected to protect the tents. You'll be raised off the ground and protected from the elements but the sides are open so expect to hear the wildlife after lights out - a truly exhilarating feeling!

Galapagos Adventure

Unforgettable wildlife encounters await as you head out to the enchanted islands. Giant tortoises, friendly sea lions and incredible sealife are just a part of it. You'll explore the islands themselves in greater depth. You'll walk to the rim of Sierra Negra - an active volcano - you'll explore San Cristobal Island by bike and you'll snorkel in unbelievable waters.
