Overall this trip was a good intro to both Egypt and Jordan

Overall this trip was a good intro to both Egypt and Jordan. Highlights; almost everything we did, but undoubtedly seeing the Pyramids at Giza, and Petra stand out. Perhaps most memorable was the quality of both guides we had.

[Least enjoyed] If we could pick one thing, it would probably be the ferry ride from Nuweba to Aqaba. It seemed to operate on "Egyptian time", meaning it left six hours late which caused us to miss our sunset meal at the Bedouin at camp in the Wadi Rum. We were warned of this but didn't expect nearly a six hour delay.

Egypt - Our group leader Adel in Egypt was exceptional. He was professional, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable on all subjects we enquired about. His love for his country and culture was clearly evident in everything he did and told us about. We felt right at home with him and he made us feel as if we were a part of his extended family. We would highly recommend him to any tour group headed to Egypt.

Jordan - The same comments above apply to Rasha, another very accomplished  and personable guide with exceptional maturity and people skills belying her young age.

The Egyptian Museum in Cairo was amazing

The Egyptian Museum in Cairo was amazing and Ali the guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information without overwhelming us.  The Tutankamum exhibition really lived up to the hype.  Mount Sinai at dawn was an experience, we had a beautiful sunrise probably enhanced by the sense of achievement of having reached the summit on time.  Snorkling in the Red Sea was wonderfully relaxing and we saw a good selection of fish including some beautiful purple jellyfish.

[Least enjoyed] The ferry trip between Neweiba in Egypt and Aqaba in Jordan.  It was dreadful and a complete waste of a day.  We got on the ferry at about 3.00pm and it didn't sail until 9.00pm because it was waiting for the tide to drop so it could load the lorries.  They must have known the tide was wrong to load at 3.00 so why were we expected to be there then?  We could have spent another day on the beach.  We didn't get to Aqaba until after midnight so we didn't get to Wadi Rum unti about 2.30 in the early hours of the morning, missed dinner and the evening sunset.  A big disappointment and I would strongly suggest the Adventure Company looks into improving this part of the trip. It really did let you down.  Sitting on an Egyptian ferry going nowhere for 6 hours isn't my idea of fun.

Adel was a very pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful man with an infectious enthusiasm about Egypt, liked a laugh and made the trip very enjoyable.  He did keep 'Egyptian time' as he was late getting up for the Mount Sinai hike, not helpful at 2.00am and was also late for the morning briefing when we travelled from Dahab to Aqaba.  I don't know how much he knew in advance about the ferry being 6 hours late leaving Neweiba but there seems to have been some breakdown in communications between the Neweiba Port Authorities, the Adventure Company and the guide.
