Nature & Wildlife Collection
Part of a selection of classic adventure tours which allow incredible encounters with nature, in some wonderful, unique properties that make the most of the untamed environment around them. Some lodges overlook watering holes or incredible views; others have an ecological touch, with limited electricity enhancing the romantic ambience and charm; and in many you will awake to the mesmerising sounds of nature.
Here, you'll stay in a range of comfortable hotels and lodges chosen for their character and location. Many feature spectacular views of the forest, ocean or mountains, so you can continue admiring your surroundings long into the evening. For example, the large windows at your accommodation in Tortueguero National Park are great for spotting birds in the mornings, and your property in Arenal is surrounded by 14 thermal pools. There is free time built into the itinerary so you can relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Manuel Antonio NP
Take forest walks to spot birds, sloths and white-faced capuchin monkeys in this lush national park that descends right down to white sandy beaches lapped by the Pacific Ocean. Your comfortable accommodation will be ideal for relaxing and enjoying the mix of rainforest and tropical coastline.
Arenal volcano
Bathe in thermal waters at the foot of the Arenal volcano and head into the forest on a series of hanging bridges. The sound of the volcano can be heard rumbling constantly in the area surrounding Arenal. When cloud cover clears the plume can be seen coming from its impressive peak. Night time is the most spectacular - on a clear night the lava flows can be seen from many, easy to reach vantage points.
Tortuguero
Staying at a hidden riverbank lodge in the rainforest you’ll discover the coastal Caribbean lowlands of Tortuguero. Look for birdlife including toucans as you explore the unique system of natural and man-made waterways. Searching for animals by boat like this is great as you make little noise - floating along whilst life goes on as normal on the banks.
