Reviews
Don't take our word for it - read through our customer reviews. All of these have been published without any editing.Fantastic local guide, Alvero. All walks were spectacular. Nice hotel with fantastic food. Friendly group of fellow travellers / walkers. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
As first time travellers on this type of trip it was perfect.
[Least enjoyed] The distance to the hotel from Bilbao. Santander would have been a better option.
[Accommodation] The owners and staff were very friendly. The food was fantastic. Drinks at the hotel bar were very reasonably priced.
Couldn't have asked for a better guide. He really made the holiday fun and made sure we happy with everything at all times during the trip. Totally recommend him.

Beautiful scenery with very few tourists Very friendly local hotal Excellent local guide.
Our walking guide coped very well with variations in fitness and walking speed of the different clients
It was a small local hotel so not luxurious but all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was good and plentiful and they provided us with excellent packed lunches
Because Pilar was local she was able to tell us all about the history of the area; her knowledge of the mountains was first class; and she was also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area. And she also had the most fabulous dog - a Spanish mastif called Peppa - who accompanied us on one of the walks and jumped into a cattle drinking trough to cool down.

We cannot thank Pilar at the Hotel enough for her guidance throughout the week and the rest of the staff were amazing.
Unfortunately in the extreme heat, we weren't sure whether the walk up Juan Dobre should be described more as Hard, rather than Moderate, but we took our time and enjoyed it all the more for getting there!
The one thing we didn't realise - and were very grateful for the transfer provided by Jim Thomson - was that the journey from Bilbao would take 2.5 hours.
Pilar was absolutely amazing and really made the trip a true experience to remember. She seemed quite upset on Thursday that we couldn't do the full itinerary walk due to the weather (low cloud would have made it very dangerous) but didn't seem to understand that the alternative she chose for us was just as special. Even though we tried telling her that several times!

The scenery was amazing, all the walks were varied in scenery and the gorge walk and a great day kayaking also added great variation.
[Accommodation] The rooms varied greatly in size and quality. This is something i think needs to be addressed. I was put in one room initially that was dark and small and even though it was my own room i felt not up to standard. I requested to be moved and this was done immediately, which i was very grateful, into a very nice room which enhanced my stay. My point is if i had to stay in the initial room, i think it would have affected my stay in a negative way.
Very friendly, enthusiastic and fun group leader

The walking was fantastic and our guide Pila (Sp?); she was amazing. I loved the food too.
It was just alright. The room was a bit tight for 2 people! I had to share which I accept, but when you are walking for a week you want to spread out a little. The bath was small, but at least my room had one.
These comments refer to Pila only

In particular the staff at Torreceredos put so much effort into our stay. Our guide was excellent with fantastic local knowledge. Our trips were modified due to the time of the year, but I completely trusted that our guide knew the area like the back of his hand and knew our capabilities as a group. As a result we saw as much of the Picos as possible in a week. The food also was amazing and involvement in cooking lessons was great.
As said before, he [Pilar] had excellent knowledge (history/wildlife/geography) and we completely trusted him. He knew the area like the back of his hand.
