Arrive in Montenegro
After your flight to Dubrovnik, you transfer across into Montenegro, and on to your hotel in Prcanj, which will be your base for your first few days.
Montenegro is one of the youngest countries in the world, having only gained independence in 2006. The country today is famous for its beautiful coastline and rugged, mountainous north. The history of the country dates back to medieval times, and became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia as far back as 1922. Now, this growing country is becoming renowned as an excellent destination, and is a great place to enjoy an active weeks holiday.

Kayak to Kotor
After breakfast you start your week with a days kayaking from Prcanj to Kotor. Kayaking on the lake should allow beginners to get the hang of the techniques, and provides stunning views as you make your way to Kotor.
The old town of Kotor is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in this part of the Mediterranean. The unique architecture of the town can be recognized in the asymmetric nature of the narrow streets and squares, as well as the medieval architecture. Built by the Venetians, their style is instantly recognisable in the buildings around the town. The town wall itself is fifteen metres wide and twenty metres high, strong enough to withstand years of attacks on this impressive town! The best views over the Gulf of Kotor are from Ivan Tower, which looks out across the bay. You climb up the 290 metres to reach the top where the views will take your breath away. After a tour around the town, you kayak back across the bay via the beautiful village of Dobrota. (BD)
Hike on Mt Lovcen
Today you visit Mt. Lovcen, one of the most famous natural and historical symbols of Montenegro. The area is renowned for the production of prosciutto and cheese, and you will get to visit a local producer to taste this delicious food stuff.
At the summit of Mt Lovcen lies the mausoleum of King Petar II Petrovic Njegos, poet and philosopher renowed throughout Montenegro. The views from the summit are spectacular, and are a great place to start a short hike down to Ivanova Korita and the adventure park there.
Set along wooden platforms built up in the trees, the adventure park has a variety of games for kids of all ages as you try to make your way across the platforms, avoiding the obstacles in your path. (BD)

Kayak to Perast
It’s back onto the water today, as you return to your kayak and head out on the lake once more. On the Gulf of Kotor once more, you head first for the tiny island of Our Lady of the Rock. Legend tells that this island was formed by the seamen who kept an ancient oath after finding a religious icon on the island in 1452. Each time they returned from a successful voyage, these seamen laid a rock in the bay, which grew over many years from a pile of rocks into what is now this island. To mark this event, every July local residents take their boats and throw rocks into the sea, widening the surface of the island. After your visit this year, be sure to return, as the island will not be the same size again!
From Our Lady of the Rock, you then continue by kayak to the town of Perast and explore the town, before returning to Prcanj for the night. (BD)

Budva & Sveti Stefan
The most famous resort in Montenegro, Budva is known for its sandy beaches and spectacular coastline. This morning you transfer to Budva, and have time to explore the architecture of the town, as it is also one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast. From here, you visit the Kosmac fortress, which stares down imposingly over the village of Brajici, before continuing on to the beach at Sveti Stefan. This famous resort is now connected to the mainland only by a tiny isthmus. This resort has developed since the 1950s from a fishing village to one of the most glamorous in the Mediterranean. Over the years it has played host to Marylin Monroe, Kirk Douglas and Claudia Schiffer. There is time here for a swim, so you can feel like one of the stars yourself! From here you continue on to your accommodation at Skadar.
TBC Hotel (AA) - 2 nights (BD)

Skadar Lake National Park
Skadar Lake National Park forms the border between Montenegro and Albania, and is the largest lake in the Balkan peninsula. Declared a national park in 1983, there are known to be 270 species of bird on the lake including, famously, pelicans. You start the day with a boat trip on the lake, so keep your eyes peeled to see what you might see! If the weather is good, why not go for a swim in the lake itself? After lunch you climb up the hill over Skadar to the village of Gondinje. Gondinje was once the home of many family clans who ruled over Montenegro in the past. Here, you might get to visit a local wine producer, and try some of their excellent produce (adults only!). (BD)
Explore Dubrovnik
Today you cross back into Croatia, and visit the famous city of Dubrovnink. First though, you transfer to Cavtat, a charming coastal town where you spend the night. From here, its just over the border to Croatia and on to Dubrovnik. The afternoon is free for you to explore the city, and there are many wonders to uncover here. The white limestone buildings and red terracotta roofs are beautiful and you could wander into 15th century Rector’s Palace, monasteries with cloistered gardens or fine baroque churches with copper domes. You can walk around the city walls, where there are panoramic views over the city, or simply take to a street side café and watch the world go by!
