Hands On Adventure

Hands On Adventures combine our special blend of adventure and discovery with an opportunity to ‘lend a hand’ to a local project for an enriching experience. These adventures allow you to contribute to conservation of the natural environment and/or cultural heritage by getting a behind the scenes look at one of our carefully selected local projects.

Project Details

Spend three days with pioneer biologist, Dr Wolfgang Dittus, and his research team as you track monkeys in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. You'll observe and record the behaviour of Toque Macaques and Purple Faced and Gray Langurs and learn about valuable conservation work from your base at the primate research camp. Your contribution here will be part of an established research project which has studied behavioural changes in these primates for over 40 years. The results of the ongoing study help to protect the species.

Sigiriya Rock

Continuing your journey on this diverse tropical island, you head inland to climb Sigiriya Rock and explore unspoilt tropical woodland on elephant-back. You can also discover the lush countryside by bike (optional).

National Parks

Your night at a jungle camp on the site of a tea plantation overlooking a beautiful valley preceeds a memorable encounter with elephants in Uda Walawe National Park.
