Reviews
Don't take our word for it - read through our customer reviews. All of these have been published without any editing. Not for the faint-hearted, but if you are used to adventure holidays or feeling adventurous, this is a must. High levels of culture shock (which we love!) and a lot of moving about, which can be tiring. Summer in the Sahara is as hot as you would imagine!

Camping in the Sahara, trekking in Atlas mountains
[Least enjoyed] Monotonous food in Morocco
[Itinerary] Marvels of Morocco trip - was not completely accurate re type of accommodation provided - happily to our benefit. Temperature guide for August was not accurate (it was a good 10 degrees hotter than the trip notes suggest) and the suggestions about how to dress so as not to offend locals seem more conservative than required, given how most tourists dress. Most importantly, there was no need whatsoever for sleeping bags at any point. We had considered taking our own - which would have meant dragging unnecessary luggage around for two weeks - but decided to rent locally just before we went and arranged that with you - but when we got there, the local company provided only five (for another family) so if we had needed them, that would have been a problem. The company tried to insist that they were paid for by this family, even though there was no way that they were needed so I suggest that you might want to look at that whole issue.
[Accommodation] description of accommodation in borchure was not accurate - there were more hotels with pools than described and there was no requirement to share facilities. Gite accommodation in the Atlas was not basic as described in the brochure - so exceeded expectations.
Khaled was an excellent leader - knowledgeable and helpful - built up good relationships and engaged very well with the young people on the trip, which was very helpful for the adults. He gave up his free time willingly to organise activities which we wanted to do that were not part of the itinerary so I have ignored these in the next question as they were not "official" additional options detailed in the itinerary.

really enjoyed everything, from wonderful scenery to just wandering around souks soaking up the atmosphere and wondering what was going to appear down the next alley. My 12 yr old says the best part was spending time listening to the african musicians
[Least enjoyed] The girls found the day walk hard but probably because we really didn't know what to wear on our feet.
So pleased that apart from in Fez all the hotels had pools which was brilliant for the children. This was more than the brochure had mentioned.
Ali was excellent and really looked after us all. Being Ramadam was a shame as we were not able to share any meals which would have been nice. How he managed to keep going at such a pace in the heat without water is an absolute miracle.

Cultural understanding and activities including camel ride and walks in the Atlas Mountains.
[Least enjoyed] The trip to Essaouira; please note that we from our perspective are more interested in cultural activities than spending a few days at the beach, but we knew that we would have to spend time at Essaouira when we booked the trip.
The collection driver missed us on the arrival day, so had to sort out transport for the first hotel by our self; Group leader made sure to compensate us for the cost accrued. (well done) It is key to acknowledge that Ali our group leader made sure that we at all time had a good time and made a fantastic job by doing so.

The camel trek, climbing the dunes on foot, wandering around Essaouira on our won, the medina in Fez (both guided and on our own), the market in Rissani and many others.
[least enjoyed] Djeema el Fna in Marrakech (too much hassle, generally unfriendly). The mini-bus transfer from Cassablanca to Fez, arriving at 2.00am.
The itinery that we followed was even better than that described on the website.
Halid kept us entertained almost from breakfast until bedtime, but without getting in the way of our enjoyment of this great destination. He was flexible and he knew when to give us free time and when to lead. Excellent.
