Swimming in Cenotes

Swimming in Cenotes and visiting the Hacienda

[Least enjoyed] Horesriding but that was only because there was a torrential rain storm and we got soaked and very muddy!

Generally the itinerary was well planned and thought out and the pacing was appropriate.

The only hotel that fell below par was the hotel we stayed in on our last night. This was quite run down and not very clean but at least it was for only one night.

Our group Leader was fantastic. He made sure that we all had a great time and left wanting to come back again to Mexico. He was helpful and knowledgeable and ensured that we had a great holiday. He is one of the best leaders we have had on all our trips.

Merida

Mérida

[Least enjoyed] Dealing  with UK  office... incorrect flight day , flight number , flight time on several occasions  Difficulty when booking convincing office that there was a direct flight  and not via USA which is important on a family holiday  General incorrect information  at uk end  First time I have booked with the company usually use explore

Accommodation was well placed but standards were unpredictable

Excellent

Our guide was very knowledgable.

Fernando our guide was very knowledgable.  He inspired an interest in Mayan culture.

The hotels were not good. We have done these style of holidays before and aware that accommodation would be basic. However cleanliness, hot water (we were in towns) and decent air conditioning or fans are basic requirements. The q bay was dirty and showers did not work properly. The caribe was  youth hostel and the last hotel was a real let down. Please rethink your hotel Choices.

The horse riding trip was a disappointment. I think Most of us would have preferred longer at chitchen itsa as the horse riding which was only around 30 mins long seemed to have to take priority as there were only 6 horses available and so we had to do four trips. Needs rethinking.

On a positive note, the accommodation was well placed each day except for Q bay. This made it possible to get to the Mayan sites early to avoid the heat and crowds.

Was a good leader who shifted itinerary to get the most from our trip

Uxmal

Uxmal - Swimming with turtles (which we arranged ourselves)

Would have been nice to have spent a little longer in Uxmal and Chichen Itza. The information about the free day in Merida contained in the trip dossier is wrong - there is no cycling available there - that is from Valladolid and no time to do it. Would have been useful to have had more information about trips/excursions available from Tulum

[accommodation] A little basic especially Valladolid and Uxmal (the room, not the public areas)

We had 2 different leaders so they didn't know what the other had done butv that was ok. The tour seemed a little bit off the cuff especially at the beginning - we turned up at a hotel in Chichen Itza, sat around for half an hour only to be told we weren't staying there after all, and were moved to a lesser hotel down the road (albeit very nice, not as beautiful); then told we couldn't do horseriding as planned the next day, it wasn't available, on checking with the hotel about their advertised horseriding, yes of course it was available, so we went back to the guide who consulted and eventually agreed yes we could go. However, not sure we really did what we should have done!
