Icebergs and an Incredible View
Activities in the snow
The quiet winter landscape of northern Sweden is best explored using the traditional methods, travelling by snowshoes allows you to get off the tracks and onto the fresh snow. A free day gives you the chance to try snowmobiling or another activity. Try your hand at igloo building and ice fishing; you have the option to sleep in your igloo too! At night you can go sky watching for the chance to see a spectacular natural light show.
Dog-sledding Adventure
Harness up your dog team and head off into the snowy wilderness for an overnight adventure. Riding a dog sled is an exhilerating experience - make sure you hold on tight as the dogs won't stop! Spend the night in a simple lodge without electricy or running water for a real taste of traditional life in this Arctic region. Return to base the following day by a different route through forest trails where you might spot Elk or Snow Grouse.
A night in the Ice Hotel
Sweden’s famous Ice Hotel is rebuilt to a new design every year with ice from the local river. At -5°C, this might be the coldest hotel room you’ll have experienced, but a thick sleeping bag and a reindeer pelt blanket will keep you snug, and there is a sauna available if you need to warm up some more. You can even have a go at building (and sleeping in) your own mini ice hotel, in the form of an igloo. An ice glass of vodka, from the ice bar, will help you to enjoy this experience.
