This week-long walking trip offers a great opportunity to explore possibly the Mediterranean’s best kept secret: North Cyprus. Based in the picturesque coastal town of Kyrenia, you will walk on deserted forest tracks passing beautiful wild flowers and enjoy stunning mountain views and dramatic coastal scenery. You will learn how the island's history has been shaped by exploring the dramatic ruins of St. Hilarion's Castle and the 14th Century Crusader abbey of Bellapais.

Fantastic walking
Following deserted forest tracks, used only by farmers and heavy with the scent of herbs and countless wild flowers, your scenic walks allow you to discover the region's highlights. You'll be rewarded with stunning mountain panoramas, tranquil villages filled with bougainvillea and surrounded by olive groves all capped off with the sparkling Mediterranean.
Historical sites
Cyprus has witnessed many invaders over the years and consequently has many castles. You'll take in some of the most important as you explore high ruins of St. Hilarion’s castle, climb the 700 steps up to the dramatically poised Buffavento fortress and discover the 14th Century Crusader abbey of Bellapais. You can also opt to visit the walled city of Nicosia or the ruins of ancient Salamis.
Kyrenia
Your base for this trip will be Kyrenia, a perfect place to relax after your day's walking. The port town has a beautiful harbour and castle area boasting a wide selection of bars and restaurants.
