We had two leaders - Chris and Jamie - who were the best we could have wished for. Chris kept us on schedule even during some quite lengthy road trips, produced some fantastic meals, and had the best stories for round the campfire about his childhood in Zimbabwe and Southern African culture.

Lesotho was the highlight of the trip

Hiking in the Drakensberg and especially Lesotho. Lesotho was in the highlight of the trip, and I would liked to have done a longer several day trek in this area.

The Sunway Safari guides were excellent, however one area in which they were lacking was knowledge of the optional activities. They appeared to have limited knowledge or willingness to help book these activities. I was particularly disappointed to miss the chance to take part in Shark Cage diving whilst in Cape Town, even though I had repeatedly asked for help in booking this activity during the course of the trip.

Fabulous landscapes, people and wildlife - bit chilly camping

Walking in Lesotho at 8000 feet and where people still farm as they did in medieval times in Europe; wildlife viewing in the Kruger National Park and Mkuzi; seeing some really rare birds; arriving at the beach to see whales spouting offshore and dolphins feeding; meeting our guides; the fabulous accommodation in Cradock and Cape Town (luxury after camping); meeting local people without electricity and running water which inspired me to want to do something to help as that was quite shocking given the wealth in other parts of South Africa; singing in Swaziland.

We had two leaders - Chris and Jamie - who were the best we could have wished for. Chris kept us on schedule even during some quite lengthy road trips, produced some fantastic meals, and had the best stories for round the campfire about his childhood in Zimbabwe and Southern African culture. He really cared about our wellbeing and our enjoyment of the holiday which was a big bonus. Jamie was an expert on wildlife - particularly birds - and was a great role model for the younger members of the group. He made even our 5am starts to view wildlife really exciting.

Take warm clothing! I mean really warm. Although the days were reasonably warm, when the sun goes down (we went in August) it gets cold (sometimes near to freezing) and you're out of doors until bed time. We had to wear woolly hats in bed on occasion. Fortunately after miserable night 1 camping (frosty) we were able to stop at a shopping centre and stock up with thermal underwear and blankets which helped. Also warn your teenagers that when they say early starts they do mean 5am a lot of days, but you can sleep on the bus if you need to catch up.
