Reviews
Don't take our word for it - read through our customer reviews. All of these have been published without any editing.Reaching the top of Dead Womans Pass and Machu Picchu in all its glory. The Amazxon extension was amazing to see the animals in the wild - felt like david attenborough!!
[Least enjoyed] The Iberia flight from Heathrow to Madrid (the staff needed a happy pill) and Iberia flight home - 11 hrs with no personal entertainment system. The amount of uneven steps up - or down on the Inca Trail! Dodgy knees were hammered.
We stayed in Three hotels and were happy with all of them
Our guide was FANTASTIC, Jaime Infante for the Inca Trail and all the other places we went - his passion for the history and the enthusiasm towards us was great. He spent over 5 hrs talking and telling us the history at Machu Picchu. Brilliant. Julio was our guide in the jungle and he was brilliant.

Our local guide in Peru, Max, was the best guide I've ever had. He was so down to earth and funny, and organised the sight-seeing trips really well. The Inca trail has been one of my favourite holidays so far. The scenery in Peru is amazing, and the people there are just so friendly.
I didn't feel that our flights home were very well organised. Me and my friend were on a different flight to the others in our group and our 12 hr flight had no entertainment system! I also feel that information provided to me about the trip wasn't fully up to date or accurate. I sent an e-mail to ask whether to bring Dollars or Peru Neuvo Sol. I was told Dollars would get me a good exchange rate and were accepted in most places. In fact, most places want Neuvo Sol, and the exchange rate for dollars was half the amount of Neuvo Sol I got for my British pound!! We were also not told that a duffel bag would be provided for the trek, so my friend spent quite a lot of money on a rucksack that he didn't even need. I feel that more pre-trip information could have been sent to us through the post, or made easier to find on the website.
Overall, the Classic Inca trail trip has been one of my favourites, and I have had an incredible time. The trip itself was awesome, but I feel the pre-trip information and correspondance could have been a lot better.
Max was the best group leader I have had. He was entertaining and fun to be around, and had so much knowledge about the local area. His descriptions of sights and towns were very thorough, and he made sure we didn't miss anything important. He was very well organised and gave the group choices on how we wanted to fit the sight-seeing in with other activities. On the trek, he looked after everyone and made sure we were doing ok. He always kept us informed of what would happen next on the trek, planned breaks, and important sights. We could not have asked for a better guide to Peru!

Reaching the sun gate at Machu picchu!
[Least enjoyed] long journey there
Felt that some of possible options were overridden by guide without real reason

I loved my whole trip to Peru to do the Inca Trail, our guide Max was great.
[Least enjoyed] The long flight!
I would have loved more time in Cusco.
All our hotels were good and the staff were excellent
Max was great, knowledgable and passionate about his country and the Inca history. He genuinely wanted everyone in our group to get the most out of our trip, which I certianly did.

We did the Peru PI trip and obviously the highlight was reaching the sun gate, and camping at cloud level.....AMAZING!!!, but the factor that made this whole trip the best holiday we have ever been on was our tour guide Henry. He was extremely knowledgable, helpful, looked after the group when ill or suffering, he picked up on individual intrests as well as being a genrally really nice person.
We didnt enjoy the Amazon extension that much as we both became ill for the whole time we did the extension....i think this could be due to the water in the water cooler, which we were informed was purified and safe to drink, but it was slightly green and could probably do with being replaced.....we didnt think bottled water was available so we drank the water....if we were informed that they had bottled water maybe we wouldnt have become ill. Also it wasnt just me and my father another person in our group had the same problem......other than this unfortunate problem the extension was really good.
The PI peru trip is the best thing we have ever done and i could not recommend and thank the tour guide Henry enough.
The accommodation on the whole trip was amazing particularly the hotel in Yucay ....the only thing we didn't like was the toilets at the campsites, but i guess they aren't going to be changed
Our group leader was brilliant , the best one we have had and we have been on a few Adco and explore trips. He was knowledgable, helpful and went out of his way and job description to make us welcome and show us a good time and an amazing holiday!

{Comment from The Adventure Company: We have contacted our agent in Peru to ask that the water cooler in the Amazon be looked into so that this is not an issue on future trips}
The highlights were the camping at some amazing sites with excellent views over the mountains and then arriving at the sun gate
I did not enjoy the Amazon jungle mainly because of my personality however I would have preferred to have been given the option of how long a time I could have stayed there as I would have only stayed one night and not 3!
