Trip Overview:

The Inca Trail from the Sacred Valley of Urubamba to the magical ruins of Machu Picchu is one of the world’s finest trekking routes – and one of the most famous. It offers an incredible mix of fantastic mountain views, different ecosystems from cloudforest to high altitude moorland and a series of fascinating ruins perched on incredible vantage points. Having spent a couple of days in Cusco and the Sacred Valley to acclimatise, you’ll head out into the Inca heartland and onto the trail. Breathe the fresh mountain air, cross 4000m passes and catch your first breathtaking view of the lost city of Machu Picchu. How’s that for the perfect answer to the question ‘what did you do last week?’

Check what's included!

Make sure you check what's included when choosing your trip on the Inca Trail. We include a walking tour of Cusco and nearby ruins including Sacsayhuaman. We also include a guided tour in the Sacred Valley including Pisac Market and Ollantaytambo Fortress. Plus, the way our trip is designed means you have 3 full days acclimatising before your trek starts - at high altitude this can make all the difference.

Leave it all to us

In the past it was possible to turn up in Cusco and hike the trail on your own. Today, in order to protect the trail, regulations are much stricter and you must travel with an officially approved company and book well in advance to secure your permit. We take care of all the logistics providing expert guides, porters and cooks as well as your camping equipment and transport.

Inti Raymi

Now the second largest festival in South America, Inti Raymi is a modern enactment of an ancient Inca ritual, taking place at the winter solstice to honour the Sun God and pray for the return of longer days.

There is a whole week of activities and celebration in the streets of Cusco culminating with a procession and ceremonial display at Sacsayhuaman on the outskirts of the city. The main display takes place on the 24th of June, however, the real fun is found in the streets on the days leading up to this. Tickets can be arranged for the display locally (not included) but all marked dates will experience the festivities in Cusco in the days leading up to the 24th.
