An amazing video showing the wonders of the Northern Lights taken on a recent trip to Iceland.

Lake Mývatn

Passing the beautiful waterfall Goðafoss to Lake Mývatn area, a wonderland for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. The Lake Mývatn is surrounded by lava fields, volcanoes and mountains, with weird volcanic formations in Dimmuborgir (Dark Citadels), pseudocraters and underground caves with geothermal water (Grjótagjá). A visit to Námaskarð with its steam jets and boiling sulphur pits. From the lake flows river Laxá, one of the world's great salmon rivers.

Viewing of the Aurora

From our hotel base near Lake Mývatn we will spend our evenings looking for the aurora borealis or Northern Lights accommpanied by our astronomy expert Dr John Mason. John will also give lectures about the aurora.

Optional activities

During your time at Lake Myvatn you will have the opportunity to take part in some optional activities. These include a super-jeep adventure on mountain roads and snow, snowmobiling across Lake Mývatn, cross-country skiing through the Icelandic countryside and various city sightseeing tours of the area.
