Don't take our word for it - read through our customer reviews. All of these have been published without any editing.Very hard to pick highlights we enjoyed every minute; white water rafting, elephant safari... This was our first time with the adventure company we were very impressed & will certainly be using them again.
Brian Peters, November 2009
Had a good trip overall with thanks to Sunam the Group Leader. What an excellent GL and nice person. Himalayan Encounters need to hold on to him as he is a gem and Highlight of the trip!!
The Old Farm, Hike and stay at Begnas Lake were great, just a shame the smog spoiled the views throughout the trip. Guess the wrong time of the year to visit Nepal.
Originally signed up for a 16 day trip as advertised and paid for, however, the next thing I see is that the 16 day trip has been changed to 14 day trip, however, the price failed to reduce in accordance with the change. What a shame to feel cheated!
[Accommodation] The least favoured was in Baktapur on night two. The rest were fine...ish by Nepal standards.
This chap Sunam has the Charisma and tact supported by a great character. I have travelled extensively and have yet to find a local Group Leader of his calibre. Well done Sunam, you are a TOP MAN and Group Leader and should be on the yearly awards list and recognised as such!!

The trekking was the best part of this trip and would have liked longer on this. The camping was great. The Guide Soman looked after us very well. I want to experience true Nepalese food and not something western created for tourists.
[Least enjoyed] The 'group' thing. The Hotels that served western food as the norm. The rubbish everywhere in the towns. The spitting.
The standard of spoken English overall was quite poor.

A fascinating trip that was often "off piste "away from the normal tourist trail, what a relief! It provided amazing opportunities to meet local people who were gracious and extremely kind.Accomodation was wonderfully varied and of a very high standard, including camping on the treks. We were in awe of the porters and support staff who flashed their gleaming white smiles at every opportunity.
[Least enjoyed] Travelling on the back seat of the mini bus on dusty, sometimes terrifying rocky roads that the drivers ,courageously and skillfully managed.
The accomodation was superior up in the mountains,Kathmantu hotel average.
He was energetic, enthusiastic and calm throughout the trip.

Paragliding over Pokhara was a fantastic experience.
Chitwan National Park was rather disppointing. The wildlife there was extremely limited when compared to other destinations we have visited.
Properties such as The Famous Farmhouse and Begnas Lake Resort exceeded my expectations. They had such character and were so comfortable. The Old Inn at Bandipur was full of charm - the only negative was the shared bathroom facilities.
Sonam was absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his organisation was fabulous.

Visiting the religious sites at Boudhanath and Swayumbhunath.
Chitwan National Park - this was all good, the elephant ride, river canoe trip, elephant breeding centre.
[Least enjoyed] The trekking. It was harder than we expected and we had to miss the third day's trek and catch a bus back to Bandipur. However, the bus ride was an experience in itself and one that we really enjoyed.
The Old Farm at Nuwakot is a beautiful building in a wonderful location.

Trekking as we got to meet some local people in the villages we visited
Staying in a beautiful converted farmhouse where we ate delicious food and were given a hot water bottle to take to bed!!
[Least enjoyed] Too much time spent on the minibus being carted around - particularly when we could have walked to some of the destinations or at least been offered the option.
I think it tried to pack too much in so we spent too much time travelling - fewer places but more quality time in them could have been a better option.
I would have liked more support/advice in doing some individual activities.

Pashputinath/Bodinath; Nuwakot Famous Farmhouse; trekking and trekking campsites; Begnas Lake Resort;
The accomodation at the Bhaktapur guesthouse was poor. It was freezing cold and there was no electricity/hot water in the room. Chitwan was disappointing. We did not have great expectations but at the very least would have liked to have stayed within the park or spent a greater amount of time in the park. We travelled 5 hours to Chitwan for a 30min canoe trip and 2 hour elephant safari.
Consider removing Chitwan from the itinerary or increasing the cost so that clients can stay in the park. The rest of the trip was excellent.
The accommodation was generally good but considering the cost of the trip, we did expect to have hot water at all times.

Excellent trip overall Enjoyed the wildlife in Chitwan.
We had a fantastic specialist guide in Chitwan- a really knowledable and enthusiastic guy.
Walking in the area around Bandipur was the absolute highlight- awesome scenery, friendly and most welcoming locals.
We liked the Old Inn and Famous Farm- both old properties restored by Himalayan Encounters with bags of character.
We had issues with our guide and discussed them with him. After this he basically switched off to us and avoided us. on occasions his own enjoyment came ahead of our comfort. We stress that he worked very hard and his English was good. [Umesh]

Umesh a very nice chap and very helpful.

[Umesh] Couldn't have been more helpful and always went the extra mile to accommodate everybody's needs and wishes.....

Our guide Umesh was excellent, very courteous, supportive, informative and knowledgable on all aspects of the holiday and the trekking support team was excellent. Arrived in Bandipur in the dark but next morning waking up in the attic bedroom and opening the door to the most magnificent view of the 'pink' mountains was just such a WOW moment - just one of so many on the trek. We were so lucky to have such clear views. Another amazing highlight was going on the mountain flight to see the mountains and Everest - again the weather was perfect - all of the mountains were so clear, not a cloud in site even Everest was totally clear of clouds - this has been my dream for a long time.
You have a real gem in Umesh - he is extremely knowledgeable and informative about all aspects of the holiday, everything flowed so smoothly and nothing was to much trouble for him. He was always punctual and is a natural people person and makes everyone feel looked after. I would be happy to have him as a guide in future.

The overall trip was excellent I have no specific highlights - everyday was fresh and new.
Prakash was very pleasant always smiling and his knowledge was first class.
So many -Waking early opening the tent door and gazing at "fishtail" in the morning light, bathing with the elephants in Chitwan, eating supper in "Rumdoodles" and of course flight to Everest.
Jagan was brilliant - just the right combination of comedy and control.
Waking up in a beautiful, unspoilt guest house with views over the Himalya.
Nabin - a good guide but not outstanding.
