This trip is a great introduction to trekking in Nepal. Though many would like the opportunity to trek high in the Himalaya, some first-time visitors prefer to undertake a shorter and less-demanding trek. This wonderful trip offers a perfect combination of an easy three-day trek in the foothills of the Himalaya, sleepy Nepalese villages and discovering the best of Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan National Park.

Bustling Kathmandu
Check what’s included!
Make sure you check what’s included when choosing your trip to Nepal. We include a charter vehicle and walking tour with a local guide in Kathmandu, visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath, Bodhnath and Pashupatinath. This means that including your stay in the medieval town of Bhaktapur and your visit to steamy jungle in Chitwan National Park, you’ll experience 6 of the 10 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Nepal. Plus, you’ll stay in beautiful rural corners of Nepal – Bandipur and Nuwakot, where you’ll stay in restored traditional village houses and our trip includes a stay at Begnas Lake Resort, which is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We also include plenty of delicious meals on the trip - 13 breakfasts, 5 lunches and 6 dinners.
We know that a network of local trek staff can be a great support on any trek. We’re often told that one of the highlights of the trek is the food served by our ample team of kitchen staff. You’ll have an experienced trip leader, we also employ an assistant guide for every three passengers and two porters for every one passenger to ensure that you have a hearty team full of friendly and knowledgeable faces to assist you along the way. We are serious about porter welfare, please see our Porter Protection Policy for more details: http://www.adventurecompany.co.uk/responsible-travel/porters-policy
Elephant-back safari
Heading south from Pokhara, you enter the steamy, low-lying jungle. In Chitwan National Park you’ll travel by elephant, canoe and on foot in search of wildlife. You should see a variety of birds, spotted deer, rhino and perhaps even tiger! Returning to Kathmandu there is time to explore the winding streets, bazaars and temples of this fascinating medieval city.
Kathmandu, Rural Nepal and Himalaya trek
The Kathmandu Valley is a fascinating area full of contrasts. Exploring by bike (or vehicle if you wish) you’ll visit Durbar Square with its concentration of royal and religious architecture, and the sacred temples of Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath. You’ll spend a night in the one-time capital of Bhaktapur before travelling west stopping in the rural towns and countryside of Nuwakot and Bandipur before reaching the lake-side town of Pokhara. You’ll also enjoy your porter-assisted trek into the foothills of the Himalaya – a relatively easy three-day Himalayan walk, ideal for the first-time trekker.
