The Everest Base Camp trek is a classic Himalayan trek with incredible views and rewards. The Khumbu region is the home of Mount Everest, at 8,848m the world’s highest mountain, as well as several other giants. Make sure you check what’s included when choosing your trip to Everest Base Camp. We include a charter vehicle and walking tour in Kathmandu, visiting Patan Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath, Bodnath & Pasupatinath. This means that including the iconic trek in Everest National Park, you’ll experience 5 of the 10 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Nepal. We also include 16 breakfasts throughout the trip. Plus, we have designed the trip to ensure that you have acclimatisation days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche – at high altitude, this can make all the difference.
We know that a network of local trek staff can be a great support on any strenuous trek. You’ll have an experienced trip leader, we also employ an assistant guide for every three passengers and one porter for every two passengers to ensure that you have a hearty team full of friendly and knowledgeable faces to assist you along the way. Kathmandu to Namche Bazaar
The first stop on any trekking holidays to Everest base camp is the bustling capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. You have time to wander the narrow streets here and will be able to discover the temples and stupas that provide much intrigue in this fascinating city. After exploring Kathmandu you fly to Lukla from where your Everest trekking holiday commences. The Everest Base Camp trek follows the course of the Dudh Kosi, the ‘River of Milk’, gradually climbing through forests of rhododendron and magnolia. There are rest days at Namche Bazaar (the delightful Sherpa capital) and at Dingboche village (set below the spectacular peak of Ama Dablam) to help adjust to the altitude. All the while as you are trekking Everest, the peaks of the Himalaya will loom above you, providing outstanding views as you walk.
Base Camp & Kala Patar
The dramatic landscape around you changes as you continue to climb higher and higher. By the time you reach Lobuche, the temperature has dropped and you’ll be walking among frozen rivers in an icy wilderness. From here you make the trek to Everest base camp itself in its dramatic location at the foot of the world’s highest peak. The next day it’s on to the final highlight – Kala Patar (5545m), with stunning views of Everest and the Khumbu Glacier cascading below. From here you descend to Lukla, marvelling at what you have achieved and all the while with stunning views and fantastic scenery all around you! This trip is popular for solo travellers and groups alike.
