I don't feel that any holiday will match walking through the Sun Gate and getting your first glimpse of the site.Breathtaking and incomparable to anything I've ever seen.

the trip was brilliant.

Certainly reaching the highest point at Dead Woman's Pass. In addition, reaching the sun gate and meeting most of our fellow travellers. Day 3 of our walk was spectacular. In fact, the trip was brilliant. We got engaged to boot!

[Least enjoyed] 1 member of group was not as 'fit' as rest of us, held guide back. We missed out on info etc. Guide was fab, credit to him to look after her.

Not happy about flight from Madrid to Lima. Not able to sit together. Hotel in Cusco was not best either. Cold water in the shower. A power cut in the morning which meant no breakfast. Breakfast area too crowded and selection poor. Sink in the room was chipped. On return from MP, no portable radiator. Told they knew the one in our room was faulty and we could have more blankets. Wanted it to warm up the air in the room. 10 mins later they brought us a radiator. Trouble is, they had phoned the room of one of our fellow travellers to ask him if he needed it as an old lady could do with it!! The cheek in both senses. Our itinerary also did not have current prices, neither did any of the information we receive comment on tipping - we wopuld have preferred to have had enough money exchanged before leaving the UK. We do think The AC need to keep updated - hiring sleeping bags - for example all in the party who wished to hire one were given a different price from the UK office. It was $15 more per bag than stated.

Camping was v good though. Porters v impressive.

Henry was excellent and helped to make the trip what it was. I had some nasty reactions to bites and he helped sort them. Other members of our group had minor medical needs and again, nothing was too much. He was funny and had great knowledge. Thoughtful too as he used some of his contacts to provide extra entertainment/interests eg silversmith.

**** Comment from The Adventure Company ****

We have passed the feedback about the Cusco hotel to our local agent to ensure that rooms are checked before clients arrive to make sure that they are of a suitable standard.

With regards to the flights, we do request for people on the same booking to be seated together but regret that seat bookings are at the airline's discretion.

Great Tour Leader

The service / friendliness of the Tour Leader as  he made my first holiday of this type a wonderful experience.

[Least enjoyed] The one morning of rain!!!!!!!!

I have no hesitation of recommending your company or my particular holiday to others.

At the age of 67, I was able to obtain suitable travel insurance more cheaply.

[Accommodation] The additional heating supplied was needed.

HE WAS GREAT

dawns on the Inca trail views from Lake Titicaca

[least enjoyed] headaches! more guidance on gut and altitude issues would be good never met the Lima agent

Our group of 12 had numerous illnesses - diarrhoea; vomiting; fatigue; headaches. I was acclimatised after 5 days and felt fit.

Amazing, 3 holidays in one!

There were so many amazing moments. The group we were with were great to get on with, friendly, fun and supportive. Our guides were friendly, helpful and full of knowledge, informatiom and passion about their country.

Lake Titicaca is huge and there is such a community spirit on the islands. They were so happy to share their homes and culture with us. We also realised how hard their lives are - medieval farming methods mixed with solar panels and mobile phones. The families we stayed with made us very welcome and comfortable, basic though it was. We peeled potatoes and beans to prepare for our evening meal. And it was pancakes for breakfast!

Cusco is an interesting city. As well as the sights and Inca history make sure you visit the Coca Museum. make sure your guide boks the Fallen Angel restaurant - strange, quirky and great food too!

Travelling by nearly every mode possible including the taxi bicycles and motortbikes.

Horse riding in the Sacred Valley was briliant and I didn't want to say Goodbye to my Peruvian pony. I know the paragliding and white-water rafting groups loved their experience too.

The Inca Trail is without comparison. It was an amazing 4 days, harder than we expected (we did Kilimanjaro 2 years ago - this was harder in that it was constant up, down and up again!!) but the scenery, challenge and the final achievement of the Sun Gate and the first view of Macchu Picchu, unbelieveable.

The Rainforest extension was again completely different but brilliant. Our guide again was brilliant and so enthusiastic and so desperate to find creatures to show us. We listened, smelled as well as looked (wild boar definitely SMELL and are very noisey!) as we explored the jungle. The black caiman that came too close to our canoe provided a great if scary photo opportunity! Oh and hammock therapy is well reccomended!!

Our tour leader for the Inca part of holiday was brilliant. Passionate about her country, history and culture as a whole. She knew her facts, advised us what to visit and booked some great places to eat. She was experienced in handling a number of problems, including that of altitude sickness, especially when that involved my friend needing a doctor.

In the rainforest, again Carlos was brilliant, full of knowledge and experience and a total love of the jungle and his country.

My only concern with this holiday is going in at 3800m - it is high and you don't come down til day 4. After doing kilimanjaro we knew the effects of altitude and the 'Climb high, sleep lower' mantra. This didn't happen and I don't know why we didn't think about this when we booked. The group we joined on the Classic Peru package had acclimatised better. I didn't suffer on Kili, but we felt the altitude as soon as we landed and suffered from headaches and nausea. This did spoil the experience of Lake Titicaca. Perhaps we should have done Classic Peru. And if doing the rainforest don't get Methloquin malaria - high altitude can cause nausea etc. In fact malaria hasn't been in the area we went ot for 16 years. We chose prevention over taking medication - mosi-repellent clothing and 100% deet repellent and total cover up. It worked for us and others in our group.

I have never tried an adventure holiday before, and was quite apprehensive about it, even though it was something I really wanted to do. I needn't have worried. The trip was superbly organised from beginning to end. Peru was a fabulous country to visit, with so much to see.The Inca Trail was an experience of a lifetime, and I'd say if you've ever thought about doing it, then don't hesitate! However you have to make sure you do regular exercise, otherwise it may seem very tough. The steps are big, both up and down, the altitude does make a difference but the views and ultimately Machu Picchu are so worth the hard work.I don't feel that any holiday will match walking through the Sun Gate and getting your first glimpse of the site.Breathtaking and incomparable to anything I've ever seen.I would recommend this trip / company :)

The tour guide, Max Vilcas, was a local man who had a fantastic knowledge about the history of the places we visited, as well as the flora and fauna surrounding us
