I've just returned from the Delta to Vic Falls trip and spent two of the most amazing weeks of my life on this holiday. I'm an avid traveller, but this surmounted all my expectations. From the wildlife to the people I met, each aspect was wonderful.

Game viewing

Okavango Delta Wild camping Game viewing Bush walks Chobe and Moremi

I would have liked 2 nights in Chobe - the campsite was spectacular and just 1 in Livingstone Could have left Jo'burg earlier (there was a lot of milling around) and had more time at rhino sanctuary. Overall itinerary was great.

[Accommodation] Staff were very helpful, short walk to restaurants

Maxwell was excellent and interesting. Kenny joined us in Botswana and was also knowledgable, helpful and obliging.

Okavango delta

Okavango delta and mokoro trips, wild camping and game drives in moremi and chobe riverfront. Chobe river cruise

[Least enjoyed] Khama rhino sanctuary, arrived late and had little time for a game drive - very rushed and the vehicle (mini bus) wasn't really suitable for game viewing. Some early morning travelling to new locations was very cold if the canvas flaps were up on the vehicle, if they were down you couldn't really see anything.  Sunway guide showed, at times, considerable intolerance regarding some sections of society and lacked sensitivity.

[Comments on Itinerary] Possibly skip drive from Johannesburg, as long drive did not seem worth the visit to Khama Rhino Sanctury, fly to Maun instead. Also more time in Chobe riverfront campsite as there was a wider variety and more interesting landscape then perhaps at Savuti, also the Chobe riverfront campsite was much nicer than Savuti.

Fantastic wildlife

Fantastic wildlife, knowledgeable and friendly guides, excellent group of people on the trip.

[Least enjoyed] Not being able to find anything in my holdall in the tent!!

There is limited water for washing when camping wild. This means not everyone can have a bush shower everyday. This is not emphasised so people might expect it.

We only had 2 nights in lodges. The first night in Rivonia Road Lodge was poor due to the attitude of the staff and inability to cope with a lot of people.. The accommodation was just about ok and well placed. We upgraded for our last night in Livingstone, from tent to lodge. This was fine.

Couldn't have had a better chap. Made us feel very safe and noting was too much trouble.

Excellent itinerary

Excellent itinerary, very well organised well as a knowledgeable and fun guide.

Lots of early starts and long road journeys but I was fully prepared for this element in advance of travelling from the information provided.

Very knowledgeable and fun so helped make a very good trip an unforgettable experience. [Chris]

Brilliant!

Every single moment of this trip was inspirational from my first glimpse of an elephant , the ride in a mokoro in the extraordinary beautiful delta, walking with our guides viewing the wildlife up close and personal, the flight over the delta, sitting round the campfire swapping tales and playing games with the people of the delta, the game drives, the incredible views and the stunning Victoria Falls, seeing is believing, awesome!

Our Tour Leaders were fantastic! The first part of our adventure we had Pieter and Mish then Riaan and Andy. They were first class, their knowledge of wildlife, birds, flora and fauna was exceptional. They really made Africa come alive and were more than happy to share their experience & knowledge. The service provided was excellent nothing was too much trouble. I can honestly say that our Tour Leaders and guides made this trip for me, they were exceptional, really professional, funny and very enthusiastic and it showed in everything they did.

This was a first time for me - first time in Africa , first safari, first time camping. This is a wonderful adventure, camping in the wild was a fantastic experience. The itinerary is very accurate - what you see is what you get! I loved every minute of this adventure.

Great place to see wildlife!

Watching a leopard kill.

Very good.

The tents were good. 15 mins to put up and 10 mins to pack away. Plenty of space inside for 2 people and bags. A few tips... It gets cold at night (in August, 2010) so make sure you have a good sleeping bag and take a woolly hat! Also, you start out early in the morning and it can get cold on the back of a Landcruiser so a warm jacket is a good idea. During the day it gets hot so you need to take your warm stuff off! During our holiday we didn't see one cloud all the time we were in Botswana! Clothes: You'll be wearing the same clothes on multiple days; don't worry about the smell :-), so pack with that in mind. The walking isn't hard so a good pair of trainers will do and maybe a pair of sandals. Tryand take a small bag that you can use for your 2 nights in the Delta. It's much easier if you can leave the bulk of your stuff in the van and travel light! If you want to see some of my pictures http://cid-c415f69e708b99c7.profile.live.com/?Bsrc=EMSHOO&Bpub=SN.Notifications Make sure you have plenty of memory on your camera cards. We took nearly 1000 pictures. Money: You don't need many Rand as your stay in SA is short. You can use you Credit Card for most things and go to an ATM for a bit of cash (for snacks on the long journey to Botswana). In Botswana you can change money (UK, Euro or Dollars) to Pula. Again you don't need a huge amount (a couple of meals, beer & snacks, mainly) and you can easily spend any left in Zambia. For the few meals you have to buy you can use a CCard. All the extras (flights over the Delta, helicopter rides over Vic Falls, etc) can be paid in dollars or with a CCard. There was no exit tax in Zambia (at least nobody asked us for it). You can easily get a visa at the border for $50US. Old Clothes: You can use clothes to buy souvenirs at Vic Falls! If you have some things that you don't want to take home, try using them when haggling :-).

I've just returned from the Delta to Vic Falls trip and spent two of the most amazing weeks of my life on this holiday.

I'm an avid traveller, but this surmounted all my expectations. From the wildlife to the people I met, each aspect was wonderful. The small group of clients was exceptional and we all banded together to ensure this was unforgettable and I have made lasting friendships.

Our tour leader/guides/cook (Sam, Jeff, Brian and Abis) ensured that everything ran as smoothly as possible for Africa (!), while maintaining a congeniality that gave us such precious memories of our two weeks together. The food was fantastic and the bush camps were great. Fresh bread from a wood fire, and warm showers in the middle of nowhere, cannot be brushed aside. Finally, a special thanks to the group leader for adding an extra day of activities by bringing us over to Zimbabwe to see the Vic Falls from that side and have lunch at the beautiful Vic Falls Hotel. He did his country proud.
