When we booked the main focus of this trip was of course the Ince Trail Trek, to our delight the trip became so much more and the Trek was only the cherry on top of the cake.

I greatly enjoyed the Ballestas islands

Ballestas islands, Machu Picchu, Cusco,  Arequipa

Due to illness I had a couple of days time on my own in Arequipa and Cusco and enjoyed the freedom of time spent on my own but with the support provided by the Adventure Company in the background.

For the first 5 days i felt that we spent sooo long sat in a minibus.  i greatly enjoyed the Ballestas islands and wanted to see the Nasca lines but the time spent from arrival to getting to Arequipa was overly slow moving and I would have liked to have spent some time after Nasca to travel towards Arequipa rather than spending nearly 13 hours travelling the following day.

I have given a 3 start rating to the accommodation overall.  I really enjoyed the accommodation in Arequipa and Cusco. Lots of character and clean and comfortable.

Due to not being with the group for the full itenerary I did not get the full benefit of his experience but generally found him to be friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Superb guide

Titicaca farm stay Inca sites Inca Trail Amazon

[Least enjoyed] Food poisoning probably from the Pisco farm (several of party got it)  altitude sickness  tipping in Amazon - the Refugio Amazonas advised $10/day/person which we thought was excessive as a tip and not in line with your recommendations  Inca trail toilets were disgusting - given the numbers walking the trail and the revenue they are making , this is a silly shorfall - or is it supposed to be part of 'the experience'

Superb guide David Pallomino Gallegos, from Base Camp Peru - very knowledgable, helpful and kept well to the demanding schedule

[Accommodation] very good variety and liked ones with a historical flavour eg Arequipa and Cusco  Lima hotel Carmel was a bit basic but ok

Please see above - David was the best tour leader we have come across .... ever !

The guide - Max - was amazing

The guide - Max - was amazing.  The inca trail was great fun, the city of Arequipa was also very cool.

Would have liked slightly more time in Lima, perhaps an extra day, to explore further.

I think that the range and style of food which was provided on the trail was, whilst excellent, almost too elaborate, I am sure that we would have been able to manage quite happily with less and more basic food - which would have reduced the quantity of stuff which the porters had to carry.

Max was fantastic!

Fantastic variety of excursions and siteseeing

Inca trail and macchu pichu Colca canyon Fantastic tour guide

[least enjoyed] Availability and choice of some restaurants/eating options for vegetarians, even though this was mentioned when I booked the tour guide didn't seem to have this information

Fantastic variety of excursions and siteseeing Very well organised and planned Great tour guide and local guides Porters on the trail were excellent

There were a couple of hotels that did not have hot water available at the time or were damp/cold. However, most hotels were decent and well located.

Knowledgeable, friendly, patient, did his utmost to ensure everybody was happy at all times.

An experience I will never forget.

Every day was a different experience, but the highlight for me was undoubtedly the Inca Trail.  The scenery, camaraderie and hospitality of our guide and porters was outstanding and an experience I will never forget.

There were a couple of very long bus journeys, was a little bit of a shame that we wasted two days travelling.

A very well balanced, fun-packed and diverse itinerary.  I really feel like I was offered every opportunity to experience the real Peru.

All hotels were very clean, comfortable and centrally located.'It would have been nice perhaps to include some voluntary work with a local project at some point in the trip.

Our Group Leader, Max Vilcas, was FANTASTIC.  The trip would not have been the same without him.  He was invaluable in every aspect and was an integral part of the experience.  I was genuinely upset to say goodbye to him!  He is an amazing ambassador for both Peru and the Adventure Company and cannot praise him highly enough!

Well & truly a trip of a lifetime!

Where to begin?! The whole trip was inspirational, from culture to history, action to adventure. For me the most inspiring moment was hiking the Inca trail, we had temperatures in the 30s during the day, freezing at night, our porters cooked fabulous three course meals and we saw views that I've only ever dreamed of before. When I made it to the Sun Gate to see Machu Picchu in all its splendour it was an emotionally charged moment. The trail was the 'cherry on top' of a magically inspiring venture which stayed true to the itinerary and was packed full of activities.

I cannot praise our tour leader enough - Marco was simply fantastic. So dedicated, friendly, helpful, full of advice and guidance and his knowledge was faultless. The tour leader is what makes the tour and without someone as keen and committed as he was I doubt the holiday would have been half as special. We also had brilliant guides (Henry, Maria, David) and met with another tour leader (Silvia) on our ventures - all of whom helped to make our holiday very special - thank you all.

Pack carefully, don't over-pack and try and carry as little as possible, you can wash your clothes at many hotels and you are always on the move so need to be ready to go early in the morning (especially if you've had a late night...) Do try Guinea Pig (cuy) Do the extra hikes Do as many optional tours as you can - they're so worthwhile. If available, do fly the Nasca lines - phenomenal! If you have the time do consider the extensions - the Amazon was stunning. Check the Facebook pages and forums and try and contact someone who has gone before for advice - it will prove priceless and give you prior knowledge of a very different country. One last but very important point; take extra money for tips - with 6 of us on the Inca trail we had 13 porters (including chef & head porter who should be tipped more) - they work SO hard and prepare everything for you so be prepared to tip all of them and ensure you have the available money with you to do so as the itinerary (at the time of our trip) was not particularly clear about this/tipping in general.
