Today you depart the buzzing city of Vancouver and enjoy an incredibly scenic first day's drive across country. Once you leave the city, it's all national forest and mountain passes, with hardly a town, house or streetlight in sight. You arrive in the beautiful lakeside city of Kamloops, the gateway to the Rockies', located by the banks of the Kamloops River near Kamloops Lake. Hotel - 1 night

See the views of towering Mount Revelstoke this morning and travel through Glacier National Park on the way to Yoho (a native word meaning 'awe'). Your home for the next two nights is the small town of Golden, located in Kicking Horse River Valley. Overshadowed by the neighbouring parks of Banff and Jasper, Yoho National Park is the hidden gem of the Canada national parks system. It is a photographer's dream with several hiking opportunities that take you amongst Yoho's pristine alpine landscape including mountains, lakes and waterfalls. You can experience the raging Kicking Horse River first-hand with an optional exhilarating half-day white water rafting excursion, or choose to canoe and hike at magnificent Emerald Lake. An excellent alternative option is walking the challenging trails overlooking Takakkaw Falls.  Hotel - 2 nights

Banff National Park

Banff National Park

With its snow-capped peaks, ancient pine forests and aquamarine waters, Lake Louise is 'the gem of the Canadian Rockies'. Lake Louise has always been a popular tourist destination, so it is no surprise that it is the most photographed destination in the Canadian Rockies! After viewing this beautiful lake you to continue on to your hotel in Banff National Park for a two-night stay. 

Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park was established in 1885 and is Canada's oldest national park. Its mountainous terrain encompasses coniferous forests, alpine meadows, icefields and glaciers. It is the veritable outdoor enthusiast's paradise with opportunities for canoeing, mountain biking or a ride up the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain.  
 
Another exciting optional activity is to view all this scenic grandeur from a helicopter. Outstanding hikes are available and, with an abundance of wildlife around, there is always a chance of seeing something. To round of your day take a soak in the Sulphur Mountain Hot Springs. Later Banff's nightlife offers great live music and a fine selection of restaurants. Hotel - 2 nights

Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park

The Icefields Parkway, cutting through the heart of the Rockies, is surely one of the world's ultimate scenic drives, travelling for 230 miles past hanging glaciers, sheer rock walls and broad sweeping valleys. You have a chance to traverse a portion of the imposing Athabasca Glacier on a guided glacier hike before being amazed by Peyto Lake's turquoise hues. Continue to Jasper National Park for a two-night stay. 

Jasper National Park is the largest national park in Canada, covering an area of 18,878 square kilometres. It is much less developed than other areas of western Canada and offers a true wilderness feel. There are several options on offer in Jasper. You can start by taking the cable car to Whistler Mountain for a bird's eye view of this splendid park. There are also opportunities for mountain biking or hiking amidst glorious lakeside scenery, or visit Mount Edith Cavell for tremendous views of Angel Glacier and various other hiking options. Hotel - 2 nights

Caribou Country

Today you travel back from Alberta into British Columbia. Mount Robson, the highest peak (12'972 feet) in the Canadian Rockies, offers a great photo opportunity, before arriving at our hotel in Caribou Country. Kick back and enjoy the swimming pool or hop onto a horse for an optional afternoon ride. After dinner, a relaxing whirlpool and sauna await. Hotel - 1 night

Vancouver

Travel back across the camelsfoot range to Vancouver. You have the rest of the day to explore this most vibrant of North American cities. Take in the magnificent skyline from the footpaths of Stanley Park or stroll along English Bay Beach at sunset, before topping off the evening with dinner in historic Gastown. Hotel - 1 night
