Arrive Kas
After your flight, you make a transfer of around 2 ½ hours to your first night’s accommodation and check in. It's time to relax and Kas is just perfect, with a wide range of bars and restaurants to choose from. Hotel - 7 nights
Canyon & Beach
Your activity starts today with a visit to Saklikent Gorge. The waterfalls here cascade into the Esen River and have cut a deep canyon through the ancient rocks. You will walk through the canyon, waterproof sandles are handy today. Later there is chance to go Tubing (additional cost), travelling down river in a large rubber tube with a paddle, it's great fun and there's the added chance to take a mud bath enroute!
You will lunch at the canyon before you take an easy walk to the beautiful Patara beach (entry fee payable) located within a National Park. Enroute you will have great views and see some Roman ruins. At the beach you can relax and swim in the warm, turquiose sea. (B)
Scuba Diving
With some of the best dive sites along Turkey's Mediterranean coast boasting good visibility and a variety of sea-life, Kas is a great place to try SCUBA diving using our PADI registered dive school. If you're already a qualified and certificated diver, we include two boat dives on local sites. If you haven't yet learned to dive, we offer a fully supervised "try dive", course which includes a one on one dive with an instructor. Diving either in the morning or the afternoon, the rest of the day is free to relax. (B)
NB: If you are already qualified and wish to dive (other than the introductory course), you must produce a valid PADI, NAUI, CMAS or BSAC diving certificate or equivalent. A medical disclaimer must be signed.
Canyoning
Don a wet suit, harness and a helmet today as you go Canyoning. Kibris Canyon up in the Taurus Mountains behind Kas is a great natural water park, where you spend the day swimming, abseiling, and leaping into pools of fresh, and rather cold, water. This is a demanding day which can be strenuous at times. You will need a head for heights and the courage to jump a few metres in pools below. Instructors will be on hand to help you get the most out of the day. (BL)
Free day
Halfway through the week you have a free day to relax and look forward to the activities to come. For those who can’t face sitting by the sea in the sun with a cold beer to hand, there are many optional activities that can be undertaken. Note: additional insurance will be required to cover any extreme sports.
Alternatively the backstreets of Kas are a shopper’s delight with Aladdin’s Cave-like shops hung with exotic carpets and ceramics – go on, undertake a little ‘retail therapy’ – you’ve earned it! (B)
Sea Kayaking
A full day of sea kayaking today. You will kayak to Kekova Island. Where off its northern shore, the fascinating remains of an ancient settlement - known locally as Batik Sehir (the sunken city) - lie submerged in a few metres of translucent, turquoise water. Consigned to the sea as the result of an earthquake, the ruined walls and stairs of houses and the outline of its jetty are still clearly visible. As this is a protected archaeological site, swimming and snorkelling are prohibited but in your sea-kayaks you can get a really close look at the atmospheric ruins.
Later you paddle on to discover the spectacular village of Simena on a peninsula, it is not accesible by road. An Ottoman castle at the top overlooks the whole bay. (BL)
Mountain biking
Today is for Mountain biking. From Sutlegen its up into cedar forests, following trails through wooden valleys, and gorges. There are some steep climbs and fast descents. After a lunch stop you will bike all the way back to Kas, experiencing some fast descents ona mixture of rough tracks and mountain roads. A support vehicle accompanies the ride so you can opt out of any section if you wish. Total ride approx 50km. (BL)
Fly home
You transfer to Dalaman for your flight home. (B)
Please note: Most activities take place outside the port of Kas - your base for the greater part of the trip - and involve short bus journeys to and from the various activities. The order of the activities may change depending on weather conditions or other operational factors.
