Fly to Krakow
Fly to Krakow and transfer to Smokovec.
Snowshoeing
Transfer to the village of Zdiar. You will have a quick lesson on how to put on your snowshoes and how to use them, along with a set of poles, to move around. It really isn’t difficult at all and although you might feel a little ungainly at first, you’ll soon discover that you can climb even a fairly steep slope with ease. With snowshoes you can go almost anywhere - which means you can get to places that skiers cannot. When you are ready set off from Strednica ski centre - your destination is Beachledova Valley which you reach via the Spisska Magura Mountain ridge. As you walk you can imagine the smugglers from long ago taking this very route, as they transferred their goods between Poland and Slovakia. The terrain is easy and the views are splendid. (BL)

Cross Country Skiing
Today you will have a go at Cross Country Skiing. You take a short train ride to to Strbski Pleso Lake (1361m) after some instruction you will head off crossing the frozen lake, enjoy a full body workout today as this demanding sport will use every muscle you have! The skies are long and thin and you are attached by your toes with your heels free. This area is great for beginners and intermediates. You can stop for lunch and take a rest at one of the restaurants here. (B)

Dog-Sledding
After a good breakfast to set you up for an exciting day of dog-sledding, you’ll head across the Polish border to meet up with the dog team handlers and their dogs. The handlers will show you how to control the sled and brief you before setting off. The dogs are always excited as they see the sleds coming out and it’s often a struggle to hold them back, so the sleds have a snow anchor just for that purpose. You will first try a single sled pulled by three dogs along a beginners circuit. Then try a trip as a passenger in a large sled for two people pulled by a bigger team of dogs.
After a hearty lunch and time to exchange sledding stories, you will transfer to Bukowina Tatranska and spend the afternoon in the thermal pool resort where you can try different pools, slides, jacuzzis and saunas to relax any tired muscles you may have acquired over the first couple of days. (B)

Downhill skiing
Today you’ll take to the powdery Slovakian snow, with a choice of either a day on skis, or a day snowboarding. Downhill skiing has long been the most popular form of skiing; in fact it was first taken up as a leisure activity by the British in Victorian times. However in recent years snowboarding has become the fastest growing winter sport. Both of these activities require different equipment so your first stop will be to get kitted out with the correct boots and then either skis or a board. As well as experienced ski technicians, your leader will be on hand to make sure everything fits properly and to show you how it all works. Then it’s off to the slopes.
For those who would prefer to relax today there is an option to take a scenci cable car ride to Lomnicky Peak, the second highest in Slovakia at (2634m). (B)

Your choice of activity
Today is a free day for your choice of activity. You may wish to try another day on ski's or perhaps go snow tubing or ice skating. You may prefer go sightseeing in the local area. Your group leader will be on hand to advise you. (B)
Sledging and Sleigh ride
Dress warmly this morning as you go to the surrounding hills for some downhill sledging fun. There are many types of sledge to try and build your confidence. This afternoon you take a sleigh ride pulled by horses around the village. At a shelter in the nearby forest you will enjoy a warming picnic of hot tea or hot wine and snacks. A museum visit will complete the day if you wish. (B)
Fly home
This morning, you transfer by bus to the airport for your return flight home. Land only tour ends in Smokovec.
NB: in the event of some activities not being possible due to weather conditions e.g. lack of snow, we reserve the right to substitute other activities and/or change the location of the trip in order to try and provide those activities. Depending on numbers, on some departures it may also be necessary to change the order of activities or divide into smaller groups, so that different activities can take place simultaneously. Your Group Leader will co-ordinate this. On most days there is a choice of café/bar/restaurants for meals and refreshments near the areas where the activities take place. Your leader will advise accordingly.
