Fly to Kathmandu
Overnight flight to Kathmandu.
Arrive Kathmandu (1330m)
After your flight, you transfer to your first night’s accommodation and check in. You have a chance to relax and meet the other members of the group. The evening is free to dine at one of Kathmandu’s many excellent restaurants.
The next day you will take a tour of the religious and cultural landmarks of the city. Pashupatinath is one of the holiest Hindu temples in the world dedicated to one of the trinity Gods in Hindu pantheon. Climb to the "monkey temple" of Swayambhunath this stupa with its notable Buddha eyes attracts a steady stream of pilgrims. Bodnath stupa is located in the heart of the Tibetan community in a maze of restaurants and workshops, it is the largest in Nepal. A walking tour through the old market areas and a visit to KEEP the Kathmandu Environmental Project complete the days exploring. Hotel - 2 nights
Bhaktapur
Drive to Bhaktapur - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one time Valley capital. Still a functioning town, Bhaktapur is a superb place to spend the night, a city of potters and pagodas - this is the East as people imagine it! Discover the narrow streets, squares and cobbled alleyways where tradition carries on in true Nepali style. The wooden palace and five story pagoda temple are two of the most beautiful buildings in Nepal. This simple town is a bewitching place for pilgrims and travellers alike. Guesthouse - 1 night
Nuwacot
A drive of about 6 hours takes you to the historic town of Nuwacot. Set on a terraced hillside above a fertile valley you will stay at the Famous Farm an imposing manor house with two charming cottages. Relax and explore the colourful terraces of organic crops. Visit the former citadel from the Shad Dynasty nearby. Stroll along trails and pathways through the nearby forest and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Farmstay - 2nts
Bandipur
This morning you set off west on your journey to the small village of Bandipur.The foothills of the Himalaya are in themselves impressive enough, but as you get closer to Bandipur you get tempting views of the high peaks. Arriving in Dumre you turn south, off the main highway, and continue to a ridge set at an altitude of 1005m - here lies the delightful village of Bandipur. Winding its way up and down hills, Bandipur’s main street has many 3 or 4 storey brick buildings with carved wood windows, including ours - a converted Newari house called The Old Inn. The three or four temples in the town add to the atmosphere in what is a traditional Nepali hill village. Few foreigners find their way up here. you may stretch your legs with optional walks through the village and out into the surrounding countryside for superb views up the Marsyangdi river valley, to the Himalaya beyond. Many of the range’s giants can be seen: Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and the distant Annapurnas amongst them. Your accommodation is a restored village mansion in the heart of the old bazaar. Pokhara
A drive (approx 2.5 hours) takes you to Pokhara. There are really two towns here today; one is the busy section, with hotels and restaurants down by the lake that most tourists find themselves in, and the other consists of the noisy back streets of the diminishing old town. Here you will find the bazaar, with traditional buildings built by Newari artisans who migrated westwards from Kathmandu three hundred years ago.
Set your alarm clocks for an early wake up call today as we travel to Sarangkok to watch the sunrise over the mountains, a spectacular sight indeed and early sunrays splash over the snow cover mountains of the Annapurna. Optional walks to viewpoints. After breakfast back beside the lake you visit Devi's Fall and the Tibetan Refugee Camp where you can buy interesting crafts and souvenirs. There is plenty of time left today for you to explore as you wish. Hotel - 3 nights
Chitwan
Travelling on by road (2.5 hours) we arrive in Sauraha village where we begin our Chitwan jungle adventure.
You will notice a dramatic change in landscape here and warmer climes. The world-famous Chitwan National Park is spread over 932 square kilometres of floodplain. The park has a wide variety of wildlife and birdlife, including the famed insignia of Chitwan, one-horned rhino, and the elusive royal Bengal tiger, of which there are believed to be around 80 roaming in the park. Ghatgai
This morning accompanied by a park guide you canoe deeper into the jungle (approx 45 mins). From here you walk to Ghatgai a village within the park. It will take approx 6 hours to reach our destination but most of that time is spent a watch-towers where we break to view the wildlife and birds here. In small groups we walk slowly to maximise our wildlife viewing. You can hope to see rhino, deer, monkeys and prolific bird life. Accommodation tonight is in a simple riverside lodge with cottage style rooms which may be multishare. Toilet and bathrooms are shared. Guesthouse - 1 nights (BL)
Chitwan
Today return to your lodge via Twenty Thousand Lakes. A walk of 2 hours takes you to the crocodile breeding centre with more wildlife viewing enroute. A final half hour walk takes us back to our vehicle and then the lodge. Lodge - 1 nights (BL)
Kathmandu
Today a long bus journey takes you back to Kathmandu (approx 5 hours). On arrival in the city you can relax and explore as you wish.
On your last evening your Group Leader usually gets the group together one last time for a traditional ‘last supper’ where you can reflect on what has been a truly memorable trip. Hotel – 1 night

A free day in Kathmandu before you transfer to the airport for your return flight home. Overnight in flight
