Depart London
Depart London for your overnight flight to Phnom Penh.

Phnom Penh
Arrive in Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel. The following day you visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, once a school and then a Khmer Rouge centre of torture which held 20,000 people. The Choeung Ek Memorial made of 8,000 human skulls is a chilling reminder of the days of Killing Fields. This now peaceful setting has had nearly 9000 corpses exhumed from it. Hotel - 2 nights (Bx2)

Battambang
Onwards to Battambang, travelling by public bus (approx 5-6 hours) you reach this riverside town interlaced with French elegance and colonialism, it is Cambodia's second city. Pay a visit to the nearby caves also used by the Khymer Rouge, and to a modern wat which gives you great views of the city and surrounds. 12th century Wat Banan Angkorian temple also gives great views from its hilltop position into the surrounding countryside.During your stay you venture into the countryside around the city to see some rural life, here small industries produce sticky rice, fish paste and noddles. Take a ride on the bamboo train which is used to transport local commodities such as rice. Or take a local cookery class which would give you some new skills to take home and impress your friends with as you master dishes like Khmer curry. Hotel - 2 nights (L)

Siem Reap/Angkor Wat
Next a private boat trip will take you across Tonle Sap Lake (approx 6 hours), here you can see fishermen and floating villages while taking in fantastic lake views. (NB April to August waters may be too low for the boat and you will travel by minibus and take instead a boat tour of Tonle Sap from Siem Reap.) Later in Siem Reap you will discover the world-famous Angkor Wat complex of temples. The temples were built during the strong hold of the Khymer empire between the 9th and 13th centuries. Scattered over an area of some 160 sq km there is much to explore, thankfully the main cluster of temples is close to Siem Reap so there is time to fully appreciate them. Representing the celestial world the temple complex was built in perfect composition and symmetry which adds to it's magnitude. Hotel - 3 nights (L)
Sambor Prei Kuk
A public bus ride (approx 4 hours) takes you to the town of Sambor Prei Kuk. Here you can explore the surrounding temples with a local guide before settling down for dinner in our homestay. Homestay - 1 night
Kampot
Travel by bus to Kampot (approx 5 hours) which is famous for its pepper production and for growing of the rather smelly, but exotic, durain fruit. A trip into the countryside reveals local salt and rice fields, pepper plantations and at Phnom Chhnork some interesting caves. Hotel - 2 nights
Sihanoukville
Onwards again to reach coastal Sihanoukville (approx 3 hours journey). Enjoy a lunch with fresh baked goodies at a local project helping the disabled and disadvantaged. Later explore the town including the market, pagodas and of course the beach. Take a boat trip to discover your very own tropical island paradise. Hotel - 2 nights (L)

Phnom Penh
Board a local bus and travel (approx 4 hours) to Phnom Penh. Free time to explore this busy city. Hotel - 1 night
Fly home
Enjoy some free time in Phnom Penh until you transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home. (B)
