Arrive Kuala Lumpur

Arrive Kuala Lumpur and transfer to your hotel. There are no activities planned until your welcome meeting early this evening. Hotel - 1 night

Today a local bus will take you to Melaka (approx 2.5 hrs). This town was once the most important trading port of Malaysia, attracting Chinese, Indian, Dutch, Portuguese and British traders. A tour by trishaw gives you a taste of days gone by during the Spice Trade as you wind along the narrow streets. You can visit a mosque, a chinese muddist temple and muslim house museum to get feel for this multi cultural city. Hotel - 1 night

Taman Negara National Park

Today after a full day of travelling (approx 2 hrs by minibus, 4 hrs by train and 2.5 hrs by long boat) you reach the ancient rainforest of Taman Negara National Park, considered to be the world's oldest rainforest where you will enjoy a jungle experience. A canopy walk takes you high above the trees for a monkey's eye view of the canopy. Exotic birds fly overhead and you will learn from your guide about the plants and flowers and their medicianal uses. Make an exciting one hour journey by longtail boat across low level rapids and freshen up with a swim. As part of your jungle time you will take a trek along cleared paths, passing through primary and secondary jungle, The humidity can be challenging even though the walk is fairly easy, so be prepared to sweat! A swim in the Tahan River offers a welcome refreshment. A further challenge is to walk on (30 mins) a little further to reach a waterfall before returning in small dug out canoes. Guesthouse - 3 nights (B)

Kuala Terengganu

Today you leave the jungle and head to the coast. A combination of minivan and local bus travel takes you to Kuala Terenggaunu (8 hours approx). Here you can wander in the busy market and visit the Floating Mosque and the Crystal Mosque. Hotel - 1 night (B)

Perhentian Islands

You travel today to the Perhentian Islands, these are some of the most beautiful island in the world. Local bus (approx 2 hours) and then a boat ride (approx 45 mins) take you to another world of pristine white sand beachs and clear waters with unspoilt reefs. During your time here you can relax, explore the island's jungle areas, go snorkelling or just laze in a hammock. A half day snorkelling trip allows you to fully explore the beautiful underwater reefs here. Scuba diving is also possible.  Hotel - 3 nights (Bx3 Lx1)

Kota Bharu

Onwards to the town of Kota Bharu, home to several good museums. The night market offer the chance to try some great local dishes, many of which are unique to this area. Local crafts of silversmiths and batiks makers are also a good buy. Hotel - 1 night (BL)

Island Hideaway

Continue by bus today (approx 6 hours) and then take a short boat trip across a lake to reach your homestay. Here Aziz and Asiah live and will welcome you to their home. During your stay here you will experience real local life and customs, including eating with your hands and learning how to tie a sarong. Alcohol is not available during our stay here as a courtesy to your hosts please obey this. You stay in simple bunglows, there are no fans so you can expect it to be hot at times here but the warmth of the hospitality makes up for that. You can explore the area and visit the local villages and waterfalls. Homestay - 2 nights (BD)
