Day
1
Los Angeles

Los Angeles

On arrival in Los Angeles, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is left for you to relax and recover from your flight. If your flight arrives early you may wish to visit La Brea Tar Pits, where for 10s of thousands of years animals have become trapped in the tar and preserved for ever. This activity would be at an extra charge.  In the evening your guide will take you out for dinner. Hotel - 1 night (D)

Day
2
Lake Havasu

Lake Havasu

After a short driving tour of Hollywood, you leave the city of Los Angeles and head through California, passing through vast swathes of Arizona's cactus-prickled desert. You will make stops along the way at points of interest, and camp by the Colorado River at Lake Havasu. Lake Havasu is a large reservoir that sits behind the Parker Dam. Lake Havasu City is now home to London Bridge, having been purchased by a local entrepreneur in 1968. It was dismantled from the Thames and shipped out brick by brick! The lake has beautiful sandy beaches, and the water is clean and fresh. Camping - 1 night (BLD)

Day
3/4
Grand Canyon NP

Grand Canyon NP

Leaving this beautiful lake behind, you make your way to one of the most famous natural wonders of the world: The Grand Canyon.

This incredible spectacle is difficult to comprehend, even as you stand at the rim. Carved over millennia, this massive wonder of nature is 277 miles long, up to 16 miles wide and 1 mile deep. We highly recommend the IMAX film to obtain perspectives you cannot achieve on foot. You will have a full day at the canyon to walk along the rim and to take in some trails. Your 2 nights here will be spent under canvas. Mather Campsite is set in woodland consisting of Ponderosa Pines, providing plenty of shade. It is located 1 mile from the southern rim of the canyon. Camping - 2 nights (BLD)

Day
5
Las Vegas

Las Vegas

After visiting nature’s wonderful creation, we return to a surreal man-made one, Las Vegas. Established as a small railroad town in 1905, it is now one of the most populated cities in the United States. You will arrive early afternoon, so will have to time to visit Egypt, wander around St. Marks square in Venice, look up at the Eiffel Tower, visit a shark reef or witness a volcano erupt! You will also have a Las Vegas Limo tour, cruising down the Boulavard. Hotel - 1 night (BD)

Day
6
Death Valley

Death Valley

Leave behind the bright lights of Las Vegas and head out to Death Valley. A diverse desert region that has environs of salt-flats, sand dunes, badlands, valleys, canyons and mountains! From driving through the park you then make your way to Bishop (know as the mule capital of the world!) where you set up your tents once more for the evening. Bishop is a magnet for rock climbers, so you are sure to be surrounded by some awsome scenery. Camping - 1 night (BLD)

Day
7/8
Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park

Head further up country today to one of North America's premier National Parks. The drive today will be approximately 3 hours, so you should arrive by lunch time.

Yosemite NP sits nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range of Northern California. Here green forest meets granite walls measuring several thousand feet in height.  Hike to the base of some of the largest waterfalls in the world and take an exciting cycling trail through the valley. Half Dome and El Capitan, the most famous of the park’s granite formations, provide majestic backdrops that will be etched on your mind forever. Keep an eye out a wild marmot or even a bear! You will spend 2 nights camping, truly the best way to experience this beautiful and stunning area of geographical wonders. Camping - 2 nights (BLD)

Day
9
San Francisco

San Francisco

Time to leave and head back to the coast to San Frasisco. On your journey you will pass through California's gold country, where in 1848 the finding of a single nugget of gold triggered a stampede of gold-seekers, known as the 49'ers. On arrival in San Frasisco you will have a driving tour before being taken to your hotel for you last night. Hotel - 1 night (BLD)

Day
10/11

Fly Home

Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home. If you have a later afternoon flight we can discuss activities that you may wish to do before your flight. (B)
