Beautiful temples and scenery. Guide shose some great places to eat food.
The train journey between Pondicherry and Madurai was 7 hours with no air conditioning on a dirty train. We had to pay extra to turn on the air conditioning on the mini bus when it was 40C in Chennai and had just done an overnight train journey. Didn't like the continual expectation for tips. I felt we were subsidising the fact that workers were not being paid enough by their employers.
Would have appreciated more mini bars (ice) to enable me to have cold water. Also hotels with swimming pools.
Excellent guide - Charles made the journeys easier
Charles was excellent in every way.

The jungle retreat. I would have liked to stay longer here. I also very much enjoyed the many interactions with local people. Our group leader was excellent - couldn't do enough for us.
In some cases the transport was not air conditioned although it was available if we paid extra. This could have led to some discord in the group if we had not all agreed to pay the extra charges.
As previously stated I would have liked to stay an extra day at the jungle resort. Another improvement I would suggest is that we had more hotels with swimming pools. We only had this for two nights but it was a great way to cool down after an active day and I believe was appreciated by everyone.
Although the accommodation met my expectations I would have preferred to pay a little more for better facilities.
He was really excellent and this was a large part towards the success of the trip.

I will be writing to your department seperately as I have a couple of significant issues which I intend to highlight with regards to this Intrepid trip
[Least enjoyed] Some of the home base / hotel accommodation and food service---delays/ timing etc. I have a particular concern about the manager of the group hotel and hios arrogant attitude to women (both travellers and staff) and his innability to manage staff (the cook was drunk the first morning so no breakfast and the second morning still no cook but other staff had to muck in.....not good enough for an 'own base' private first impression for a sister travel company which Adventure Company is trusting to deliver
On a tour like South India we used a range of accommodation over many one and two night stops, so it is impossible to rate them on one form. There were many instances were there was no hot water or too little to go round and given the amount of travelling I think it is important to stagger the forms of accom. Its fine to have a basic stay for a couple of nights if that is followed by a pretty good room with excellent facilities
aveen was pleasant and happy and helpful but I do think he would have been more suited to dealing with younger travellers. The group I was with were 28 - 65 year olds and he did what was neccessary but no mkore.
