Day
1

Arrive in Dubrovnik

Following your flight to Dubrovnik you transfer to Plat, where you will stay for the week you are in Croatia. Located 12 kilometres sotuh of Dubrovnik, Plat is a great place to be for the week right by the sea and within easy reach of surrounding towns. Your accommodation throughout the holiday is in the Hotel Orphee, in the village of Plat. Situated between Cavtat and Dubrovnik, the hotel has access to a variety of beaches along the coast, as well as tranquil pools to relax by. There is easy access into Dubrovnik via the regular bus service (additional charge).

2

Sea Kayaking in Dubrovnik

After a day off the water you transfer from Plat to the beach just south of Dubrovnik city. From here you paddle around the city walls and see Dubrovnik as marauders from the middle ages would have seen it. Depending on how strong a kayaker you have become, you can either paddle out to the islands near to Dubrovnik or head down the coast to Betina Cave, a delightful cave with its own beach which can only be accessed from the sea. After lunch you paddle along the coast back to Dubrovnik and transfer back to Plat. (B)

Day
3

Cycling in the Konavle Valley

This morning you transfer further south from Dubrovnik to an area previously ravaged by the war. The Konavle Valley was occupied by enemy forces and life is only just returning back to normal. The valley itself is flat-bottomed with a large number of natural and man-made streams flowing through it. The area is fertile agricultural land with fruit and cereals being the main products. There is a lot of water in the valley and this has been channelled over the years to ancient mills still functioning today. The area is beautiful and the riding is not too challenging although you may get your feet wet! (B)

Day
4

Rafting the Cetina River

After breakfast you transfer to the Cetina River, where you can start your rafting. The Cetina is widely considered the first and best white water rafting river in Croatia. Traditionally, Croatians have been travelling the river on wooden rafts, but we go for the safer and more comfortable option of inflatable rafts! The Cetina is a dam controlled, safe river with some wild grade four and five rapids and big waves. The river gradually slows and changes into easier rapids and calm sections which are great to relax in, swim and enjoy the spectacular scenery of forest covered canyon and trees that reach the water’s edge. Please note: if the water levels are low and the river too calm for rafting kayaks will make the trip more interesting. (B)

Day
5

Visit to Lopud Island

Today you begin to explore the beautiful Elafiti Islands. You take a ferry to Lopud Island, the second smallest of the Elafiti Islands and a haven of peace and tranquillity. Its landscape is typical of many around the Mediterranean with pine forests, olive groves, towering cypress trees and even palm trees. The warm climate is ideal for growing grapes, figs, carob, pomegranate and a variety of citrus fruit. Its many beaches provide a perfect playground for you and the kids. You could have a go at playing “Picigin” volleyball in knee-deep water with an egg-sized ball! Alternatively you can become familiar with life on the island by walking through the lovely pine forests and traditional stone built Mediterranean fishing villages. In the evening you return to Plat. (B)

Day
6/7

Free on the Dalmatian Coast

These 2 days are free to enjoy your local surroundings, relax and unwind or enjoy a variety of local activities that are on offer. If you are looking to slow the pace down a bit before heading home then head to the beach to end your perfect week.  (Bx2)

Day
8

Free in Dubrovnik

The trip ends at the hotel today. Clients with onward connections will need to take an early morning transfer to Dubrovnik airport for the flight home. (B)
