Camel Trek Extension

By adding an extra 2 days to your tour, you will have the opportunity of experiencing a wonderful and unique desert camel trek. Nothing quite compares to riding a camel for a few hours before arriving at a traditional Bedouin camp with local Berbers to keep you entertained around the camp fire. This extension starts on day 4 of the standard itinerary and then returns to Marrakech on day 6 with a flight home on day 7. All meals and mineral water will be provided for these 2 days.

From day 4 of the standard itinerary:Desert Safari

Drive from Zagora along the Draa valley to Tagounite where you leave the main road and follow for some kilometres a dirt road in the direction to Bougeorn. You will meet your camelteers and begin your camel safari. You'll be covering 4 hours today, more or less 2 hours in the morning, 2 more hours after our lunch stop in the desert. Time then to set up camp and prepare traditional Moroccan fare under clear starry skies and sleep in large Bedouin-style tents. With luck your camel drivers and camp staff may sing and play drums to round off the magical atmosphere of the evening. Overnight: Camp at Tiraf dunes (BLD) Bedouin style tent.

Marrakech

This morning we leave the camp very early as it is a long driving day. Returning back to Marrakech along the Draa valley to Zagora and Ouarzazate, we’ll stop en route at Ait Benhaddou for lunch and of course a visit of the Kasbah which is probably the best-preserved fortified kasbah in the country. With its dramatic walls of red earth, slit windows and crumbling towers, it is a magnificent example of a traditional stronghold. Chosen as a location for Hollywood films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jewel in the Nile and more recently Gladiator, Ait Benhaddou sits upon a lofty pinnacle of rock overlooking a river. After this visit we continue our journey and head up North to the Tizi n'Tichka pass, we cross the High Atlas once more and will reach early evening the red city of Marrakech.Approx. 9 hrs of driving ( 3.5 hrs from Ait Ben Haddou in the afternoon)Dinner will be at a Restaurant close to the Medina.Overnight: Hotel Majorelle, Marrakech (BLD)
