Turkey is an ideal destination for a family holiday
Turkey has been a favourite travel hotspot among British holidaymakers for decades and the country's popularity shows no sign of waning.
With so many beach resorts and cultural cities, it is not hard to see why the European nation is held in such high esteem.
According to a spokeswoman for GotoTurkey.co.uk - the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office - it is a perfect destination for the entire family.
She suggested that although Turkey holidays are often associated with lazing around by the pool, there is far more to the country than this.
Istanbul is an increasingly popular place to visit thanks to its vast cultural charm and plethora of interesting sights.
Hurriyet Daily News reported last week that 659,826 people explored the city in March 2012 alone.
"It has more Blue Flag beaches than ever - 314 for 2012 - and beyond the classic sun and sea holiday it has a great variety of locations, activities and sports," the tourism representative remarked.
