South Africa 'is great for activity holidays'

There are numerous reasons to take a South Africa holiday, as the country is a cultural melting pot with plenty of famous and intriguing landmarks to see.

Tourism leaders believe that one of the biggest attractions of destinations such as Cape Town and Johannesburg is the wide array of outdoor excursions that are available to travellers.

Indeed, minister of tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk told e-Travel Blackboard that activity holidays are becoming increasingly popular, particularly among people from down under.

"Activity-based tourism is the direction for 2012 and by attracting the Australian and New Zealand market, we will be focusing on outdoor holidays, golf, hiking and of course the safari," he was reported as saying.

A growing number of individuals from all around the world are finding the Kruger National Park particularly attractive, as it is one of the finest game reserves in the whole country.

Visitors who want an active holiday can cast their eye over the region's many natural creatures while on foot or by taking a canoe ride through the park.
