Kilimanjaro 'is a symbol of Tanzania's beauty'

People who have conquered the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro often say their achievement was a major turning point in their life.

Conservationists believe Kilimanjaro is the perfect place to set up a climate change centre, as it remains one of the most recognised and popular landmarks on the planet.

Speaking to Tanzania's Daily News publication, Willy Makundi of Moshi Environmental Management Consults said the facility would be the first of its kind in Africa.

"Mount Kilimanjaro is an enduring symbol of Tanzania's and Africa's natural beauty, a world environmental resource heritage, yet it is also a visible sign of the effects of climate change," he was quoted as saying.
