Istanbul 'is a mesmerising destination'
Istanbul is becoming increasingly popular among holidaymakers - particularly couples looking for a romantic getaway.
A spokeswoman for GotoTurkey.co.uk - the website for the nation's Culture and Tourism Office - described the city as "mesmerising".
The metropolis is split between Europe and Asia, making it one of the most unique and diverse places in the world.
According to the tourism representative, Istanbul is a very attractive destination for couples young and old.
With so much to see and do, it is unsurprising that travellers spend so much of their Turkey holiday wandering around the huge city.
Aside from the obvious tourist sites such as the Blue Mosque, Istanbul has a plethora of bustling markets and bazaars that are begging to be explored.
The spokeswoman added that the city has a thriving nightlife - with the Taksim Square region being densely populated with bars and restaurants. There are also plenty of music festivals to enjoy throughout the course of the year.
