Egypt holidays are getting more popular
The number of people vying to go on Egypt holidays is growing as the destination regains its popularity as a cultural and historical hotspot.
According to Egypt's Ministry of Tourism, the country is hoping to attract many more visitors in the coming year.
Speaking to Reuters, Samy Mahmoud, undersecretary of Egypt's Ministry of Tourism, said: "The future of tourism in Egypt will be great."
He noted that by the end of the year, between 12 and 13 million tourists will have headed to the country, bolstering its tourism revenue considerably.
Egypt will no doubt be relying on its iconic landmarks, like the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx to attract holidaymakers.
The vast majority of tourists are heading to Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Alam, Mr Mahmoud claimed.
Rising demand for holidays in Egypt in 2012 was predicted by ABTA - The Travel Association, whose spokesperson Sean Tipton claimed that bookings were certain to bounce back this year.
