Holiday to Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro 'brings people together'

A climber set to scale Mount Kilimanjaro - something that can be done on a holiday to Tanzania – has said the camaraderie with her team will drive her on.

Office worker Sara Anckaert told the Sentinel the 30-strong group have been undertaking thorough preparation for the February trip.

The jaunt is being arranged by her employer Phones 4 U, which had applications from 170 staff eager to get out of their slacks and into their climbing gear.

Before the squad can set off, they need to raise £1,000 each for the Ellis Harriet Clark Foundation, according to the news provider.

Ms Anckaert said: "It's going to be really tough, but all 30 of us are desperate to reach the summit and we will be doing all we can to spur one another on."

Groups looking to plan a similar trek up the famous peak could book onto one of Adventure Company's holidays to Tanzania.

It offers numerous routes up the mountain, including the Machame trail and Rongai option.

The Peaks of Tanzania trip – which is available during February, July, August and September – also allows travellers to take on Mount Meru.
