Holiday to Egypt 'will now offer better Pyramids experience'

Travellers who take a holiday to Egypt to view the wonders of the Pyramids in Giza will now enjoy their trip even more, the country's government has said.

According to officials, no new buildings will now be built within a perimeter ring road, with many existing structures torn down to protect the monuments and avoid them from being obscured.

Furthermore, the area is to be made more pedestrian-friendly, with electric cars taking tourists from the visitor centre - rather than petrol-powered autos or buses.

Meanwhile, no camels or horses will be allowed in the immediate vicinity, with views from a distance permitted instead.

Vice-minster of culture Dr Zahi Hawass explained: "In the past, the site was crowded, cars were everywhere and also people selling camel and horse rides and souvenirs. We decided to make improvements … to make it more enjoyable to visit."
