Holiday to Egypt 'could include Hurghada exploration'

Travellers who take a holiday to Egypt may find the area around Hurghada a fascinating place to visit, if one expert's experiences are anything to go by.

Author Philip Parker recounted taking a trip to the region in an article for the Guardian, which saw him ride in a jeep to discover Roman remains.

He said the area was filled with granite columns, small forts and a temple.

"To travel along tracks that twist and vanish as soon as they are found … is to sense a little of the arduous lives of the miners of the Roman era, when water was nearly as precious as gold," Mr Parker wrote.

People inspired to discover their own piece of this part of Egypt could book onto one of Adventure Company's holidays.

The Feluccas & Pharaohs Family Holiday includes a trip to Hurghada, along with chances to view Cairo, the pyramids and Luxor.

Meanwhile, the Egypt Extended family holiday and Wonders of the Nile - An Adventure Collection Family Holiday could also be interesting options – the latter includes a cruise down the country's famous river.
