Dutch trekker takes 81 holidays to Nepal

Trekking holidays to Nepal never become repetitive according to one traveller - who has made the journey to the land of the Himalayans a record 81 times.

Speaking to the country's Republica newspaper, Dutchman Arie Langereis shared some of his favourite memories of his many treks, which have taken in almost all of the most popular routes in Nepal.

Mr Langereis is proof that holidays to Nepal are not for an exclusively young audience, as he still visits the country almost every month at the age of 82.

A knee problem means that he is now unable to enjoy the many and varied treks on offer, which has made him particularly nostalgic for his favourite journey - the route to Langtang.

"I have trekked from Dhunche to Langtang more than 20 times," he said, adding: "I am not fed up of this beautiful route yet. I still pine to tread this trail."
