Egypt holidays news: Traveller recommends snorkelling

Jon Holmes, writing for The Times, said that he travelled to the north African country with very little experience, noting that a 200m swim was 195m farther than he had ever been qualified to do.

However, after some initial misgivings, the travel correspondent found his sea legs and came to enjoy the snorkelling experience, adding that he "cannot recommend it highly enough".

"Gliding through spiralling parrotfish over a reef that drops away 1,000ft below you into the blue is like flying, but flying into a world that most people never get to see," Mr Holmes remarked.
