Visit Wadi Rum during Jordan holidays, says expert

Travellers who are looking for a trip which is packed with cultural and historical experiences and activities have been urged to book Jordan holidays.

The Arabian Desert runs through the Middle Eastern country, which is home to the famous wilderness setting of Wadi Rum, the kingdom's largest wadi - which means dry riverbed.

Although Travel Trade Gazette writer Emily Crane admitted Jordan holidays to the desert are probably not suited to those keen to take in a diverse landscape, she said the area makes up for its lack of variety because it is steeped in culture.

She pointed out that Wadi Rum has connections with the famous Lawrence of Arabia and the Arab revolt, while it is also possible to come across the tents of the Bedouin people who still inhabit the desert.

As well as including a stay in a Bedouin-style tent at Wadi Rum, The Adventure Company's Journey to the Lost City trip also offers families the chance to visit Petra, which is built into a mountainside.
