Head to Hurghada 'for active Egypt holidays'

Travellers eager to get active during their Egypt holidays could consider heading to Hurghada for a spot of snorkelling.

The North African country's Red Sea resort is one of its most popular tourist hotspots and while it may not be a typical adventure holiday destination, it still offers plenty of opportunities for people to exert themselves and experience something new.

Michele Perrin Gustafson, a reporter for The Orange County Register, said she visited the coastal town with her family during a recent Egypt holiday and particularly enjoyed the chance to head beneath the waves.

"The diving was outstanding," she wrote. "We saw lots of giant lionfish, many sea anemones, each with its pair of very territorial clownfish, a huge octopus and a purple moray eel larger than six feet long."
